Ultra Flo Question..

Hey guys,

I heard the Dynomax Ultra Flo muffler sounds very similar to the GMPP exhaust.. This true? My Dads '04 Monte SS has a Dynomax Super Turbo exhaust on it, and it has a very mellow sound. A great burble at idle, but a little more of a bwerrr upon throttle. A tiny bit weird, but then again, the GM V6's never sounded that great.. So I already ruled out the Super Turbo.. So, fr the Ultra Flow, which one should you go with when you want a GMPP-like sound? The SS, Welded, or Race Bullet? I'm sure the Race Bullett would be incredibly loud.. I want a sound like stock, plus a few notches, but nothing rediculous. I know the stock piping is 2.5, and is the stock SS tip inlet also 2.5? I'd be using that.. So you're probably looking at a 2.5 in 2.5 out, middle mount inset, with a corner mount out correct? I need to know the exact specs of the necessary muffler to achieve a stock-like appearance. I want it to be a direct-replacement. OEM fit and look, just louder.

Thanks!

..anyone? Even if you don't know what the sound is like.. I NEED to know what size in/out and what positioning of the holes I need to get.. Thanks!

And could you also tell me what size the inlet and outlet I would need for a stock-piping-friendly high-flow cat? Magnaflow seems to be the pipe of choice.. I want to do all this with stock size tubing.. I heard it was all 2.5 tubing, but then someone else said it was mainly 2 1/4.. Anyone?

Bump. lol.

Even if no one knows about the Ultra Flo, could you at least tell me the size I need? Stock arrangement. What size inlet from the tubing and what size outlet to the stock SS tip? And do I want a center mount in and an offset out? Thanks!

I put a 2 1/2" Magnaflow catback on my 2.4L and it fit perfectly. I'd go with 2 1/2" if I were you.

Not a cat-back.. Just a direct fit muffler swap..

They could make a 2 1/2" muffler fit on the stock piping no problem.

Good stuff. I'm keeping my header/dp/cat stock for now.. You try them modified and they're crappy? Or haven't you gotten there yet? Any clip or just idea of how it sounds? Anything to compare it to? I kinda want stock-ish but a bit louder.. That what it sounds like? And I just want the 2.5 in, 2.5 out then correct if I want to use the stock SS tip? And I want a center in/out correct?

thats exactly what it is with just that done. stock cruising levels, but sounds wicked under WOT. look in the pics/vids section, tons of video there, and it def. gets raspy catless

How about high-flow cat? I was considering eventually going Pacesetter header/dp and a Magnaflow high-flow cat.. No dice on that?

Oh.. And is yours the race-bullet or the SS normal oval style? Center in/out and 2.5/2.5, correct?
