unsuccesful in doing rear brake upgrade
As some of you know i got the cross drilled and slotted rotors and posi quiet pads which are installed and working great on my fronts but the other night i went to do the back brakes and the bolts that hold the caliper shoe on are almost impossible to get off they are hard to reach with most tools and at a bad angle so i ended up stripping the one bolt and ahd to keep my stock brakes on for now u ntil i can get to the dealer to pay $55 for something i couldve done myself if the bolts werent on there so tight. has anyone else had this problem on the back discs?
Not yet but I had to give up on the front calipers on my Silverado last time I did the brakes. The socket head screw was too shallow and I couldn't get any crank on it, it would just slip out.
i had when the caliper bolts are so tight or like rusted on. Some WD40 works great and then use an impact gun. A good impact gun always got mine off. It also helps if your using a breaker bar or something to turn the wheel if your doing front breaks to the opposite side of the caliper. If doing left brakes turn the wheel all the way right. It gives you some extra room to really put some torque on it.
well the fronts i did no problem but if you ever look at doing the rear brakes youll see what i mean, there is no room there and i think the dealer tightened the bolts down too hard so i stripped it trying to get it off...im gonna see if the dealer will do my backs for free
