Valvoline / Scam on oil changes?
My brother worked at Valvoline for like 8 months doing oil changes. He told me the boss has the employees rip off customers and not change the oil filter on a routine oil change. I guess they often do it when they offer a oil flush or a higher price in service and the customer refuses. My brother also said 99% of the customers just sit down in the waiting area and don't even watch out the service window. If I had money I def would get a lawyer and sue them thats bullshit

Jiffy Lube is notorious for this kind of ****. There is a thread with news footage about it somewhere. I'll look for the link and post it (not meaning to jack the thread).
EDIT: Here's the link to the news article about it. This **** makes me want to punch those ******* in the face!

that's why you should always change your own oil... there's not one good reason that ANYBODY can't do it themselves... unless they're just damn lazy... takes no more than 10 minutes... i don't care how busy you are, you can fit in 10 minutes...

I had a friend that worked at one of those places that did that. It never bothered me because since I was kid my brother drilled it into my head that there is no since paying someone to do something that you are totally capable of doing. This thinking has saved me lots of money.

Well warranty doesn't cover doing the oil changes yourself. It says that right in your warranty. I have reciepts proving that I have had all mjine done on time. To me having that peace of mind is worth the $15-$20 to have someone do it for me. I don't take it to Jiffy Lube though, haha

Very untrue. They have to prove that you doing the oil change caused your engine failure. Same with jiffy pube or whoever, if they chase your problem back to them they will denie your warranty claim and you will have to fight jiffy pube to fix it. I have had stuff go wrong engine wise and they never asked about my oil changes. They know if you have been doing them on time as soon as they open the engine up.
haha. he said jiffy pube. twice!

Sorry. I hate to tell you your wrong. I use to do a lot of my own stuff but now I'm disabled and have to rely on these places to do it for me. There are many medical issues that prevent you from changing your own oil or tire or anything. You need to learn to be more respectful and open-minded.
