Hey everyone.
I Just saw a youtube vid of a guy trying to fix a salvage vette and he had a new ECU which requires a clutch relearn, cam relearn. I did this same thing when going through my spare ecu tuning/install. I had to send out the ecu to get tuned, only to find out my hpt couldn't do the clutch and security? relearn. SO I had to go to a dealer and pay a bunch to get that fixed. This looks like it emulates a tech 2 on your windows laptop
I wouldn't be surprised if it worked. We have been emulating tech 2 on our laptops at the shop for a few years now, its called tech2win. We have a actual tech 2 for those oddball old cars that refuse to work with the emulator. Would like to see how compatible it is.
tech2win came out when the MDI was released. it makes it possible to use the new, laptop-based scan tool on the older cars that are not supported by GDS.

What is MDI?
I have been out of the car modding and tech stuff since I sold off my HPT and ecu some years ago.

The Amazon listing specially states Tech2Win compatible. Damn I wish I had knew about this thing. Would have saved me a lot of money at the dealer on clutch relearn.

It sounds like you would still need a gm subscription then. Which isn't cheap from what ive heard.
Good call on that. For a DIY it would still pay for itself if you only did it a few times a year.
3 Days $55
1 Month $225
1 Year $550
3 day subscription would still be cheaper than a trip to the dealer.
Nice, this is tempting. Any idea if a Tech2 is what is needed for a radio reprogram? (have a black face USB, but i'm avoiding the dealer because I don't want them doing the recall or joy riding it)

yes, you need a tech2 to reporgram the radio cause its the central hub of wiring for the Cobalt. I took mine to the dealership for this and they said there was no guarantees.
We don't use tech 2 or tech2win for programming actually. Only if the only thing needed to be learned is the vin. Otherwise we use a program called SPS or Service Programming System with a mdi or mdi2 as the communication interface to program modules.
