Wanting to mod the 2.2

I have a 2007 2.2L i want to start putting engine mods on and a nice tune. The only question i have is have the at SAI (secondary air injection) in my car, i didnt know what to do when i had my intake it caused the problem because the tub that connects to the air box i could not hook up to the cold air tube.

What is the best to way to mod with this, just have it tuned out and get a intake and new headers?

i want to try to get 200 WHP unboosted. im thinking i can do it with a nice tune. What do you guys suggest i start off with?

you can just put a mini filter on it for now. but when you get your tune you will get it tuned out.

and im not too sure about 200 whp unboosted

That will be a very tough goal. There will be one or two people that come in and tell you there close but they spent...a lot. 200WHP is best achieved by boost IMO. All the basic bolt ons will put you inline with 2.4L cobalts depending on what they have done mod wise and the driver.

You can do what I did which was buy a 3$ spectre filter and secure the extra pipe down. You'll probably want to have the SAI tuned out by Trifecta or someone with HP tuners as it will severely limit you. You'll wanna post questions like these in the 2.2 performance section also BTW.

I honestly wouldn't doubt that 200HP is possible N/A, especially from 2.2L. I would personally say to get a tune and some aggressive camshafts. Reason I say this is the 2.2L Ecotec replaced one of my favorite GM engines period, the Oldsmobile Quad 4, which from 1991-1993 produced 193HP from 2.3L N/A (cars used: 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais Quad442 and 1992-1993 Oldsmobile Achieva SCX). If the Quad could do it, factory warranty and all, I'm sure the Ecotec can.

Ignore the HP rating in the video. Motorweek doesn't know squat.

You will not break 200whp with simple bolt ons. Plain and simple.

Just save your money then. Be patient, and take that money that you were going to put towards mods and put it towards your next vehicle. 175whp isn't fast, at all and eventually you'll have buyers remorse.

How does SAI limit you? K&N makes an intake and PPE makes a header/dp combo for it.

And I know you're not keeping it for too long but a sc kit is cheap and will give you more power than full bolt ons.

Get the K&N intake, it is the ONLY intake that accepts this.

I said severely limit because it severely limits your choices to one header/dp and one air intake manufacturer. Does that sound like a plethora of choices to you?

I don't know if anyone has the PPE combo and has posted results, I'd be much more interested in buying a well established combo here. The K&N is a good intake but I liked the Injen better. I have had it and a filter attached to the SAI tube and the SAI tube tied down for at least a year now summer/winter and its works well. No inspection issues..

As for the header I have two different options I might go with (I actually have them both in front of me now) and neither are PPE. I plan to have the SAI tuned to a state that will pass inspection and leave the equipment resting on top of the header.

I think it's because no one knows that PPE makes one. And I don't see where it wouldn't be as good as any other combo you can put together. And for the intake it's pretty much personal preference. And If you're going to tune the sai why not get rid of it all together?

It's supposed to be there. It's coded into the VIN and there is something underneath the hood that explains it should also be there. You probably could get away with removing the SAI equipment (would save some weight) and the sticker or paint over what ever it is but keeping it will probably lessen the chance of issues arising inspection-wise.

Well I don't have to worry about that I go to a place that my family has went to for years and all they do is check my lights, signals, horn, and brakes and slap on a sticker lol. I know it's suppose to be there cause it is an emissions package.
