At war with the Dealer
At war with the Dealer
The amount of pissed faces doesnt even explain the amount of anger ive gone through the past 5 days. I want to go slow so everyone understands so ill start from day one.
First day i get the car, im in love with it. But its clutch has issues just like alot of people on this sight. So just like alot of people on this sight i took it to the dealer and was told nothing was wrong with it. But never the less there i was 4 months later having to replace the clutch and the flywheel because the clutch hesitated so much. Now i told the dealer i wanted nothing to do with the stock clutch, but since it was under 5 grand a new clutch was covered under the warrenty. So when I talked to the service guy, his name was chris he said go ahead and buy what you want, and we will cover the install under the warrenty. I have this writing.i go ahead with the install.
About 2 hours after dropping it off they call me back and tell me there was problem. The flywheel was covered with blue hot spots cause by the clutch issue and needed too be replaced. Keep in mind there is a 5000 mile warrenty on ALL parts. So i tell him to go ahead and do it because its right there. So i think i have it all work out and im about to hang up the phone and he slips in the phrase. "The flywheel is not covered under the warrenty beacuse i was putting an after market clutch in. OH WTF were the first words that came out off my mouth. He said it was not covered and i would have to pay for the flywheel and the install which is about as much as the clutch.
Oh no no you told me in writting that you would cover the full install. He said yeah were covering the install of the clutch bt not the flywheel. Huh its right there you have to take the flywheel off to remove the clutch. Besides my aftermarket clutch did not cause the issue of the flywheel in the first place, your faulty clutch did.
After that comment he started getting smart. "look your lucky were even covering the clutch, one there is abnormal tire wear, 2 its an aftermarket clutch, and 3 we know how you "Kids" drive these cars, you drive them like there a race car, granted they are a preformance car but you drive them like theres no tomorrow. At this point im starting to get angry and im glad i have is full name, cause im about to call gm and have him fired.
So at this point im just about over this guy and am considering hanging up the phone getting a tow truck and towing my car right out of there shop. So there was a little silence there for alittle while, i think to myself i have this in writting. SO i say Ill tell you what, fix my car ill pay for the full install clutch and all. 1 i will never in my life come back to your dealer again, and i will get a lawyer and make you give me a full refund. Hung up the phone. dident hear anything for a day. The next morning got a call from the manager of the service department saying they would cover it all. Their lucky too cause i was literally about 5 minutes away from calling a tow truck..
I dont know what this dudes problem was but i know he knew they had to cover it he was just giving me a hard time, but he went to far. That was one of the darkest events ive ever had with gm. I was very dissapointed what i had to deal with.
Sorry for the novel
whatever happened to a dealer you could sort of trust? When I was a kid, my parents kept going back to Egglefield Ford in Elizabethtown NY because they always got a good car, good deal, great service... my dad still buys cars there. My mom doesn't because she drives all Chevrolet now.
Now it seems that dealers could really give a flying **** about you or your car once they have your money. And it isn't just GM dealers I hear about... Volkswagen, Mitsubishi, even ******* BMW dealers are going down this road of '**** you and your car'.
just strikes me as odd.

My exgf's parents had terrible times with there Mercedes dealership and warrenty work. It's sad but it really does seem that all dealerships have forgotten how to treat a customer.
Calling GM is useless! I have called GM 3 times, twice for my stage 2 issues, the 3rd time I called them because the service moran brought my car from the back of the shop revving my car hard & shouting to the other service moran "hey this is the one with the supercharger can you hear it."
I am glad you got them to hold up to their end of the deal. Good luck with your new clutch.
