The "Weight of a specific part" thread.

I figured we may as well start this. I'm going to catalog the weights of everything I remove from my car and replace with carbon fiber. Let's make this an informational thread as well as a request thread maybe? I'm looking to replace a LOT of stuff with carbon fiber once I get all the materials. So far I have:

Trunk w/lowrise, third brake, bolts: 38-40lbs(Carbon trunk from ExDim weighs roughly 10-12lbs)
Stock 15" steel wheel(no tire): 16-17lbs.(RPF1s weigh ~10lbs.)
Front crash bar(Don't remove or alter this. I had to take it off to slide my Stealth heat exchanger in from the front.): 6lbs
The back of your rear seat: ~25lbs (My carbon fiber replacement should weigh less than 1lb.)
The bottom of your rear seat: Maybe 5-7lbs, not really worth removing IMO.
FE1 Control arms: 10-13lbs each(If I recall correctly) FE3/5 are considerably lighter.

Your thread inspired me to remove some stuff and lose the weight, and a Google search inspired me to replace with carbon fiber. I'm going to do a carbon rear seat, maybe a trunk mat, fenders when I feel qualified enough, maybe a hood. Then tons of non-structural brackets will be replaced.

Nope. The crash bar is just a steel tube that bolts to the front of the car.

This is what I'm talking about. The entire swayback, and weights may differ depending on what has soaked into the seat over time. Mine is relatively clean because it's never really been used too much until recently. My trunk mat on the other hand has tons of **** soaked into it.

Nah I'm going for function. Although the c-pillar trim broke and I almost tore it out in a fit of rage. I have a lightweight replacement for the seat back in the works

If anything gets pulled its because it's broken or it's being replaced with something better. I'm too filled with determination to consider otherwise

I may when I pull the passenger seat to make a mold. Seems a pain in the ass though.

Do you have to remove the front seats to get it out?

Yes sir. And the bottom seal belt bolt unless you want to cut a slit in the carpet. Plus the trim around the edges and console

carpet is definitely heavy especially with the thick sound deadening backing.

couldn't imagine a fully gutted car though talk about sound resonance

Hey jesse if you need anything specific weighed let me know as I am pretty much taking my car apart lol. most of the interior is staying put though
