What Have You Done To Your Cobalt Today?
Replaced the timing set on the LNF. That was 20 hours of fun.
Hmm, what have we here? Shouldn't there be a guide there?

Yep, that there is broken.

Good thing I decided to drop the pan too. Found this bugger inside the oil pickup.

Hellabroke

Got her all buttoned up, replaced all but the cam and crank sprockets. Runs good as new.
After all that I can confirm a couple things:
1. You don't need the special tool to do the VVT gears correctly. Just follow the rest of the service manual instructions to the letter. Except for the part about putting both friction washers on the crank sprocket before setting the timing marks, that washer covers the timing mark on the crank. You can install the friction washer after setting the timing up.
2. The hydraulic tensioner does indeed have a spring in it, it comes preset so you just have to slap it in and then strike the chain as normal.

Yep! Stealth. Decided to stick with the supercharger route after all. Really at this point all I need is a boost bypass and injectors. Gonna either recycle my K&N or fab an intake from carbon. Gonna run stock pulley on E47 until I can afford forged internals.
Sissy!
I wouldn't even bother with the stock pulley. throw a modular hub on before it goes on the car and profit. Plus my 2.7 barely clears the core support, and I think the auto sits even closer.

I have no problem trimming. The hub already has a modular hub installed. Just going to get a stock sized pulley for it. No sense blowing up the car.
After finding that the dealership might of left off one of the transmission bolts that attaches through the oil pan when they replaced my transmission 16k miles ago, I decided to pay them a visit and see if I could get them to comp me the bolt or something. Turns out the transmission guy was awesome and apologized profusely about it. Had me pull the car in and put the bolt in on the spot. Even worked around the skid plate. Great experience.

The black housings look nice on certain colors, but on a dark colored car the chrome pops.
