My dad dosn't want me to get a cobalt ss/sc because he says gm dosn't make good small cars. he said GM makes good big cars like monte carlo and corvettes and impalas and trucks gm is new on making small impacked cars. he would rather see me in the new Eclips then the colbalt ss/sc.

 

GM has been making compact cars longer than Mitsubishi has been making cars, the old cavaliers (and other j-body cars) were among the most reliable safest small cars on the road. It's not unusual to see pre-'95 cavaliers, and sunbirds to a lesser degree, with 150,000+ miles on them still running like new, some even looking new.

 

Ya i know but he rather see me in a 06 monte carlo ss or the mitsubishi i say the 06 monte carlo ss

 

who's paying for your car???? or better yet how old did you say you were?

im paying for the car im 22 i have alot of money saved up i still live at home

 

then buy what you like driving best and if it's an SS tell Dad "I get to make this choice but thanks for the input"

Id get the Monte Carlo SC over the Cobalt SC...Or wait till the new Impy SS comes out.

If you really want the Cobalt though, just ask him how he can judge the Cobalt. Sure Chevy may have made the Cavy a little less than optimal quality, but this is a whole different car. And besides, if its your money and your 22, make your own decisions!

 

we both don't like the impy ss it looks ugly to us. to the anti american? we are both republican's my dad has a new chevy truck. just because u don't buy american maid dosn't make u anti american. we both like the monte carlo ss it has 303 hp and bigger then the cobalt ss. to me the front end looks like the cobalt. well any ways I be ready to buy a car or what every i get in 5 more months.

 

hmmm, i agree with your dad on this one, chevy makes way better trucks than small cars. If you read through articles about chevy most explain that chevy puts most of their effort into trucks and vans.
I'm still getting a cobalt though, because imo chevy small cars (cobalt, malibu)are getting way better. I dont even want to comment on the avao, because its not even chevy's car.

 

Ya the avao is ugly to me but the tv ads are funny .
I think i might get the monte carlo ss its all depends how much it is. my dad gets discounts. but if its alot i would get the silverado ss im down to two cars now silverado ss or monte carlo ss. to bad i only have 2 grand saved up or i get a silverado ss right now because its more then the discounts then my dad gets he gets alot but this new gm everyone discounts is more.

SS Monte and SS Silverado are in an entirely different class the then SS/SC. By "class" I mean price. I dont know the price in american but an SS Monte here is 40K+ compared to the 25k for the SS/SC.

i think the monte carlo ss is a horrible ride for what it is, i mean the supercharged ss monte carlo v-8 is only pushing 240hp, that sucks i mean the honda s2000 is a n/a 4 cyl with the same hp, go with the cobalt ls turbo it and have an awesome car or the 2006 gt and turbo that

ss xtreme is talking about the new 2006 redesigned model coming out. Not older S/C Monte Carlos. You’re talking about an older model, which was a supercharged V6 putting out 240hp. That motor sucked – I think it was to hold over until these new 2006’s come out. New Impalas and Montes coming out have V8’s for the first time in awhile, they aren’t S/C and have 303hp with 323ft/lbs. According to Motor Trend a 2006 base Monte Carlo SS V8 will start around $28,000 US. Go to the Chevrolet site and go to the SS line up http://www.chevrolet.com/chevyss/ These new cars coming out are way better than the past. My only beef is that they are sticking with wrong wheel drive.

 

I hope that the new SS models will exceed the estimated performance numbers. But I guess they keep using transmissions that are geared way to high.

 

dont get a truck unless u need it. i hate those people who have trucks and suv's just for the novilty. I almost rear ended a truck during rush hour when guy driving it slammed on his brakes. if it was a car i would have been able to see around it or at least through it to see that people were dead stop on the highway. just my $.02
