What problems have you had with your SS/SC?

I have had my car for about 2 weeks and have a few issues with it.

-The cup where you pull the passenger door closed the (leather?) is cut short and there is a gap around it.

-The shade on the sunroof drags and rattles.

-Only once in a while when I use medium pressure on the brakes the car pulls hard to the left.

-This happened to me twice. When I am at a quarter tank the low fuel light comes on it stalls then takes longer than normal to start the gage goes down to empty when I park it goto work then get back in to go home is has a quarter tank and no longer has the low fuel light on.

Other then the above listed item I love the car.

-Plastic trim around the sunroof button.

Beside that nothing else. Got atleast one rock chip in each of my rims, but thats what happen when the my town rocks it road.

Well, let me start with the sunroof clip thing, sunroof not tilting, my passenger side leather insert is loose around the door pull, and occasionally when I'm driving, my brake light indicator on the dash will light up. And all the miles I'm putting on it! (around 4500) Other than these minor things, I am satisfied with my purchase.

I had a problem where all of my brakes were locking up at one time. It took all week for them to figureout that it was the switch behind the break pedal that was causing the brakes to stay applied. I have a funny feeling that all of us are going to experience some kind of problem with our vehicles, since it's the first generation.

Oh yea, my sunroof visor was sticking too.

I don't have any problem with my sunroof clip at this time,

But, For the leather insert on passenger side, I went to the dealer with that, the "door pull" was not fixed correcly, they unscrewed it, put the leather underneath, and screwed correctly, now it's not moving anymore, and the leather is ok!

I had some rattling in my sunroof, they said that the "seal" on the sunroof was not lubrificated correctly, they put some "Jig-A-Loo" on the seal, and now it's not rattling anymore!

Anyone here have a rattle coming from the passenger door or the back seats?

I've got the LS coupe fully loaded but I've had similar problems to what is here. So far I've seen the following:

1) I had both the e-brake and high-beam lights randomly come on then turn off while driving. It happened errartically out of nowhere, typically after I had first started the car and began driving, but I haven't seen either case in a while and it was within the first 1000 kms or so, so I'm assuming it's resolved itself. Bet drivers were wondering why I was flashing the high beams cause I thought they were on .

2) The vinyl around the door handle was cut too short so it has to go in to be re-upholstered and glued back down since the glue ripped off around the edge and now it's lose. The dealership has seen this on the base Cobalt but first time they've seen it on the LS, this will fix the problem.

3) My check engine light came on and was due to a faulty gas cap and therefore I was losing the vaccuum in my gaselines (which I'm assuming meant my engine was working harder ) They replaced the gas cap and the engine seems to be running much better...fuel economy is back down where it should be (8.4L/100km not up at 10.2L/100km but that I partly blame on the insanely hot weather we've had lately).

4) I noticed the runner between the trough on the roof of the car is somewhat loose in spots but I have a feeling this is due to how it's attached. I'm going to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get worse and make sure the weather stripping doesn't start to pull out but I'm sure it will be fine.

Other than that the car seems to be in great shape. I'm really impressed with it and am more than happy with my purchase. The dealer has been really good about servicing it and answering all the questions I've had and GM has done a great job on the car as a whole.

Here is my list with my temporary "solutions"

1.) CHMSL ( rear center tail light trunk nounted) stays on after shuttung the car of sometimes. Solution: Hit the brake pedal.

2.) When shifting trans into reverse it like to make grinding noises. Solution: Put it into first gear then right into reverse keeping the clutch pedal to the floor.

3.) Same problem with passenger door leather/vinyl under the door handle.

4.) Cruise Control. This one my be totally my fault though as I only noticed it when driving home at night tired. For some reason it doesn't want to engauge. you hit the on button then the set button 2 times right? if thats true cruise is not working at night for me then, because it works during the daytime. Solution: Don't use cruise at night

I think that is all of them so far.

edit: Oh btw I have 1300 miles on the car now.

Only problem I have is the roof not opening all the way, stops about 3 inches short (at least i think its supposed to open more since the visor can go 3inch back still). Going to dealer today to check it out.

Only 2 problems.

1) Air conditioning and defroster quit working. Fixed

2) Popping noise on turns, so they had it for a wek and replaced rack and pinion.
Still not fixed. Goes in today for one more time, if they can't fix it they are talking
about trading it in for another.

Had the same problem with my SS. Went to go from a stop sign n car stalled out. Said wow i havent stalled out in a wile turned the car back on took like 10 seconds to turn over. Pulled into the parking lot of KFC and the gas gauge said i had no gas. Thinking to myself i just had 1/4 tank when i left and onyl went maybe 2 miles away bad gas batch. Went in got food came back out n car had 1/4 tank again. weird ass ****

Is this your first manual transmission? That sounds normal to me, as reverse is sometimes a little noisy when the gear meshes have to line up. And your solution is the best way to minimize it.
