Where to find build date?
Where to find build date?
I did a search and couldn't come up with anything. Where can I find the build date on my car? It is a 2006, but I have found a couple things saying 12/2005, I was just wondering where I could find an exact date. And does anyone know when 2006 production actually started, I assume that it would be around June-July of 2005. Thanks.

I found this out when people from the Lordstown plant called me to ask me how pleased I was with my SS/SC.

If you ask someone in service at your GM dealer, they should be able to provide you with a build list. It shows the date each component was scanned when installed in the car on the assembly line. This is part of the GMVIS system all dealers (at least in Canada) have. I have about 20 pages of info relating to my old vehicle including recalls, warranty repair history, build schedule and even where the different components came from (ie. engine factory, transmission factory, etc.). Some interesting information for sure. You may want to be nice though to the service staff because on many occasions they may not be permitted or are hesitant to provide you with this information for privacy reasons. If you mention that you just want as many records of your vehicles history as possible, they are more likely to provide this info than if you tell them your selling the vehicle, or some other reason since the dealer doesn't make any money that way.
