Why The Blue Changed!

Alright, well I got off the phone with my sales person this morning. I was talking to him about why they changed the blue and etc, anyways the reson the cobalt discountinued making the arrival blue is because after about 1-2 years the paint starts peeling really really bad. Turns out instead of chevy not caring about their customers they changed the paint to the laser blue, which ive seen in person and is.. well not that great. So I ordered my SS/SC in Red with Red inserts .

That sounds a bit fishy to me!!! I don't think that salesman knows what he is talking about. I read an article somewhere that said GM was brining in Metallic Laser Blue because they felt that blue was going to be a hot color in the future, and that type of blue with it's violet shade would start a trend.

Sorry, but I think the peeling story is b.s.! He doesn't even work for GM, so how in the hell would he have any idea. I'm not an expert, but paint is paint. Arrival Blue goes on just like any other metallic color. If that story was true, I'm sure there would already be a few people complaining about their arrival blue paint soming off! The only problem here is GM's stupidity in discontinuing such a nice color!

Sounds fishy to me as well. I would say the more logical explaination is that Arrival Blue is/was Chevrolet's truck color (it seems like they're trying to phase it out on the trucks as well). Look at the other 2005 models, the Cobalt is the only passenger car that was offered in Arrival Blue, so you may ask what color was offered on the other passenger cars? Why, *gasp* none other than Laser Blue. I would say the more logical explaination as to why they discontinued Arrival Blue in favor of Laser Blue is to get some consistency across their entire lineup of cars.

Don't believe everything a salesman tells you, as you can tell from most of the other posts on here - they're usually wrong. Either due to the fact that they just don't know any better or the fact that they will tell you anything to make the sale. If I believed everything my salesman told me, then I'd be driving around thinking that I had a car with a Honda motor under the hood. (Yes, you read that right, the moron was going around telling people that Honda made the SS motor.)

Actually I did hear this too. That the arrival blue is more seceptical to peel paint than the other colors. I thought it was wierd as well. I dont know if it is true but I hear that also.

GM had a problem with blue paint peeling in the early 90s. They fixed those problems a long time ago.

they're changing the colour because the paint shop is goin to open up, and the colour has been around for a few years now, and they're just offereing newer colours for new modles. think of it like this. the paint shop in ohio wasn't ready for the lonch of the cobalt so they continued to use the paint they already had for use from the cavi's and sunfires.

that is what i was told months ago from an employee at lords town.
