Yes the talk was definitely about making the sedan in an auto before they came out, thats what I was thinking too.... Didn't realize they decided not to, I even remember seeing it in a couple car mags

i drove my gf's auto a few weeks back, and it was so damn boring... not to mention i almost threw it into reverse while driving, thinking i was going to 2nd had that split second where i was like "wtf, where's teh clutch"

I thought they were going to be making an auto, but haven't heard of any yet. having a manual is half the fun of driving imo.

But i can understand how automatics would be sooo much better when racing but i dont recall see'ing too many forced induction auto's. I picture like old school auto's with 350's and ****. How about paddle shifters! saw the new skyline, or should I say GTR tonight. Paddle shifters would be off the chain. But i guess thats what im looking for and hes not. Hes got a misses that wants to talk on the phone and do makup when driving

thats why none of the chicks I know drive sticks. Id love to find a blonde that drives a stick though.
My brother in-law brother has the 09 Lancer Ralliart and its 2.0 Turbo is nice and fast and it has the trip tronic shifting including paddle shifters but its damn expensive.

my opinion is because maybe the tq convertors couldnt handle the powah? idk i know thats not it, but i cant really THINK of a reason why they didnt create one. it would of been nice to race a 2.0 lsj or lnf. and def if it was a modded one or with a more powerful tq convertor... NO BOOST lag between gears lol NLS would never be necessary

probably the reason is to keep the car specific to performance enthusiests, similar to not having an auto z06, zr1 etc...just a guess

and since the hhr has an auto, but it also doesnt have features like the NLS etc. i asume they r just tryin to keep the cobalt to be the more performance-oriented of the LNF cars.

The auto in base cobalts holds a ton of power. i would think with an added trans cooler those autos could be a beast with a good trans and engine tune.

Fail to those that said the SS sedan doesn't get an automatic.

NVM, but the other day I built a SS sedan on Chevy's website and it had the automatic as an option..

PS...watch out for those GN, T-Type, and GNX Buicks...they only came with autos...

I'm glad someone said it. Didn't think there would be so much auto hate.

As i've said before my manual days are over. Massive congestion and stop and go is a major part of my life so the manual is not appealing at all.

The new accord coupe or mazda 6 look like a real winner. G8 would be nice but there's no way I'm buying that sinking ship. Thanks again guys

Boring to who tho? The 18-25 crowd? I'm past that age bracket and with the way things are going with the economy i can't justify spending the money on a real fun car ie 370z or a corvette. Front wheel drive and performance just doesn't scream fun to me either so i'll settle on a sporty yet roomy family sedan with decent performance till the time i can comfortably splurge on a real fun car and not feel guilty about it.

my opinion, if your into racing like track and everything, **** even hardcore into racing on the street in that matter, automatic is the way to go. don't have to worry about lag between shift, all you have to worry about is launching, not bouncing off the rev limiter, missing a shift, for beginners... going from third to fourth but really u just went into 2nd... yea my first stick i did it once or twice. but i'm not gonna lie. when its all said and done, easier to get road head in an automatic... come on guys am i right? i dont give a shift how good you are at driving. road-head = pulling over to a shady street or getting on the interstate with the cruise control. or you can drive around in second like i did... eventually pulled on over lmao yo my motor was SCREAMING i was like ok babe hold on i gotta pull this bitch over

it's not for an age limit, more for ENTHUSIASTS of any age. a true enthusiast is someone who drives a manual regardless of conditions because it gives you so much more control of the car. even if you don't race the car, or make it faster, it's still nice to have that extra control.

p.s. i'm over that age bracket as well and have lived within viewing range of manhattan pretty much my entire life. so the traffic thing doesn't work either

from the people I know, usuall ythe people that are kinda into cars are the ones that get an auto because of traffic, or they don't feel like shifting or some other reason. nothing wrong with that, and i'm not knocking. but the true enthusiasts that love driving almost always get a manual.

Sounds like alot of guys like to work the stick but hey i don't judge. The auto can handel the power just fine. GM just has the misconception that every one who is a car enthusiest would only buy a cobalt turbo if it had a manual. They sadly forget about us city folk who have to commute every day who want power and convience.
