I looked at them both and drove them both. The SI is nice looking and feeling car but my balt will actually put you in your seat! Needles to say I choose the balt.

I'll stick with my Cobalt.

As far as GM and Chevy in general goes, that is all my family has ever owned. Just to list '92, '96, and '00 Surburbans an '02 Silverado 1500, an '03 Silverado 1500, and an '04 Silverado 2500HD, and now my '05 Cobalt SS, and have had NO major problems at all with any of them. They have all been very "reliable" cars. I have never been a Ford fan at all, and have NEVER baught import cars. I really dont care what any magazine, journal, newspaper, add, or report has to say. I go by what I have expierenced, and I have had nothing but good things to say. And until I see something wrong with the cars and trucks that I buy, I will keep buying Chevy products.
God bless you

And including the trim pieces in the "reliability" is just plain stupid. If a piece from the sunroof trim comes lose, for example, it doesn't affect the reliability of the car. It doesn't leave you stranded, it doesn't cause the car to become undrivable, it doesn't make it "unreliable" in any way. Case closed, just drop it.

I dunno about you but if my cars cloth starts coming off my seat, my sunroof seals start falling off, windows malfunction, etc, etc etc...then that car definately qualifies as a piece of ****. Whether it was quality or reliability at fault interior and trim pieces play just as much a role as the rest of the car.
That's not to say all GM cars are unreliable though. My mom and dad's Buick Century and Regal haven't given us one little problem, but my Grand Prix ...that's another story and is precisly why I'm here checking out the Cobalt as a possible new purchase. I wish I'd never bought that vehicle...and it only has 52,000 thousand miles on it and has leaked, warped discs, strut problems, but it does reliably start up every morning and move...if that's all you need your car to do then more power to you.

CR - In my experience, this car is a piece of crap. It's probably the worst car I've ever owned in fact. My Toyota Mr2 had less problems throughout it's life (170,000 miles).
I also have a 78 corvette that has less problems than the Cobalt has. I got a big freaken lemon.
I've had the car in the dealer more times than I've had oil changes to make a long story short.

Come on man, I proved you wrong and made you feel/look stupid, get over it, don't try to go around that FACT. Nobody ever agrees with you, especially when you are obviously wrong, like in this instance, yet you keep arguing, how is that wise?
The vehicles are assembled to Toyota quality standards, meaning both plants have to meet the same requirements. Point being that CR's reliability rating system is flawed, and you're blindly defending it like a tool
