wide open throttle.

not, it's not bad for it, unless you're sitting there pedal to the floor bouncing off the rev limiter. which even then isn't all that bad for the car.

but, it will use more fuel, heat up the engine more, and wear it out faster.

depends on the gear... you probably don't want to floor the car in 5th gear at 2,000 rpms if you're in the right gear, it should be fine. but being in too high a gear at too low a speed will put alot of stress on the engine.

If you're WOT in the lower RPMs you really shouldn't be in that gear anyway.......it will be much slower acceleration, and it's not good for the clutch and puts too much load on the engine.

Yea what he said... It's called "lugging" an engine and is a pretty bad thing to do to an engine. A terrible thing to do for an engine that isn't broken in. Plus its alot of undue stress and heat on the drivetrain. Just downshift and enjoy the power...

I think this is something that might need to be stickied so everyone knows about this. I really honestly was unaware that flooring it in 5th at low rpms would put more stress on it then just dropping to 3rd and flooring it. Thanks for letting me know. I have only done it a time or to, but still, thanks.

When you floor it, the engine should be in its "sweet spot" to get the most out of it. Mine likes 3,500+ rpm. Pulls great. But you can do whatever you want with your car... Anything below that and its kinda like she says "don't you want to downshift first?"
