Thumbs down

I'm almost 21 - had one ticket (minor fender bender) that was dropped and mine went up 450.00 every 6 months because I got a SS/SC... We're with Geico and mine alone is almost 4,000 a year... WTF??? I'm on with my parents right now because I'm a fulltime student... but we're all thinking of switching

You would think it would be less - hell we have 7 vehicles insured by them... but I guess not!

Mine's right around $85/month. 25 years old, female (though I don't think they take sex into account anymore), single (don't get the "married" discount), no accidents, 2 pts on license.

I'm paying about 120 a month here in Tampa using Geico. I'm not even paying 400 a month for 2 "sports cars" in fact. I am 25 though so that makes a bit of a difference

Deathwish when these guys tell you they are 19 and 20 with only 90 dollars a month in insurance remember one thing.

They are on their parents policies listed as the third driver on the worst oldest car on the policy obviously...

I have a SS/NA and I pay 280 / mth and that is my own plan but I am LYING MY ASS OFF!!! (Lying as in I moved out of state and got a clean drivers record by lying about everything...)

I have State Farm and am paying $60/month. But I am 32 married and we also have the house and the wifes vehicle under State Farm as well, so we are getting other discounts for multiple vehicles as well. Plus neither of us have any tickets which helps as well.

26 years old, $128 a month, one ticket (105 in a 55 workzone). Seriously, check around, don't just try to stick with one company. But look carefully at what their services are.

I am a insurance agent (in Indiana). Ask your agent to quote a few different (i.e. higher ) deductibles and ask them about any and all discounts (good student, multi-car, multi-policy, insurance/credit score disc., ABS disc., etc.).....also, keep in mind that the SS/SC is has a fairly high rating symbol, a "18" vs. (for example) a base Cobalt which is a 11 or 12. So if you are age 16 to 21 then you can (on avg.) expect to pay 3 to 4 times of what your dad would pay rated on the same car.

Rofl, when I was looking into the Cobalt, I was considering an n/a ss, my insurance company told me they would not insure me in that car. I pay 208 per month for an LT, on my moms policy. I guess that owning a camaro when I was seventeen wasnt such a good idea lol.

I pay $236 a month. I am 21. Have 11 points and a restricted license. I prolly have one of the worst driving records here and it seems like i pay somewhere in the middle. I go thru esurance.

Look, try to insure it under you dad's name and put yourself as a secondary/occasional driver, and put your own name under another car (for instance i'm technically driving the minivan...) this should help.

Alright, I did an online quote with Geico, I put my dad as the main driver, and me as a secondary driver and it went down to about $200/Month which is much more normal than $413 - So well see how this works out, I'll keep you guys posted and I look forward to getting my 07 SS/SC

Thats an insane quote for Florida. People that reside in NY but also have 2nd homes in FL are known for registering their cars down in Florida while keeping them in NY simply because the cost is sooo much better compared to NY.

My estimate for the SS/SC in philly was $1000/6 months. Outside of philly it is $720/6 months and moving back to new york my insurance will jump to $1600/6 months.

$413 is a big rip off. Try getting the insurance under your parents and paying them the money as it will save lots regardless.

And if this was already resolved (didn't want to read all the responses) then I am sorry for being late to the party.

When you did the quote with Geico what did you put in for the number of miles you drive? Also did you say you were using it to drive to work or to school? Make sure you drive to work 0 days, drive to school 0 days and drive 0 miles to both of them. For total number of miles/year, make it as low as you can. The deductibles are also a factor. Lower deductible means a higher monthly payment.

I am 19, my fiance is my insurance agent, so takeinto account I get back my commission....

SS 2.4 - $258.33 per month (roughly $3100 per year)

2005 GTO - $208.33 per month (roughly $2500 per year)

yes the GTO is cheaper than the slobalt....and no I don't get it either
