no it's bigger and has better flow. It will give you more top end

I put the 2.4 mani on my car b/c the 2.2 mani will only hold up to so much boost then it will blow apart.

Other reasons include better top end power
More horsepower
not that expensive of a mod
good thing to get if going for a fully bolted 2.2

more airflow with the 2.4 manifold. you get more hp/tq.

of course this is totally dependant on which year you have. 05-07 will have this advantage with 05-06 2.4 manifold. 08+ have the same manifold as 2.4 hence the 148 hp rating at crank.

Pretty simple. It'll take time only because you need to disconnect and reconnect several things. You may need new gaskets (I've heard you can reuse the old ones), a throttle body spacer plate if you're not putting a 2.4 TB on as well, and a way to extend the brake booster hose (connects on a different part of the 2.4 mani as opposed to the 2.2 and needs to be lengthened).

You don't have to but alot more air is coming in so a tune helps. It's better just to get a 2.4TB and a 2.4IM and then get tuned. A 2.4TB requires a tune.

So let's say I just get the 2.4 IM and then wait on the TB... would I be doing any harm w/o getting re-tuned until I get the 2.4 TB..?

to utilize it, it would make sense to retune. i ran untuned with the 2.4 and got the tune and it felt awesome. so i'd say cough up the 75 bucks and see for yourself.

I've been running my 2.4IM for a couple months with no problems untuned but I plan to get a 2.4TB very soon. The 2.4IM cannot be used with a supercharger, it can be used with a turbo from what I understand though.
