Appearance: 1st Gen Projector Aiming
ok i have hit a problem here.
i got my lows aimed thank goodness as my father was telling me the cops are watching me and have recieved complaints about my headlights and a couple other things... won't go thier though. lets say loud exhaust on my truck and speeding on the old highway.
any ways here my prob. my halos are weird. for the highs they have THREE yes 3 adjustment screws. wtf do i do?

the bottom one takes your high beams up and down
I cant confirm what the top 2 do as mine only had to be adjusted a tiny bit down.
Like i suggested earlier, aim your headlights at a wall/garage, turn one screw a few turns and see what it does.
I had nowhere to start from when mine arrived and thats how I learned to do it.

ok its just from your movie i only saw 2 screws for the high's so i got scared. i think i figured it out now though so its all good. lol
lol i had a totally diffrent problem. my adjusters had fallen off. lol only one was left on. so 20mins later i had it all perfect. lol
thanks man. i love this walk through

Another good way they same to aim the projectors is pull your car 25 feet from the garage door. Measure from the ground to the center of your headlights. take that same height and tape it on the garage door. Then subtract 2.5" - 3" and tape that line. Then adjust the light so it cut offs around the 2nd tape mark.
The goal is to get 1% decline supposively, but that blinds people. The 2.5" - 3" rule i read a lot about on HIDplanet and seems to work rather well.

Picture taken from linked site, shows a great visual representation on aiming. Also lots of great facts
That, and because every one likes their lights a little different... no one has them exactly the same as the next dude, so they leave it up to you, some times, they come pretty close, other times, they are WAY out, mine were pretty close, but ended up way out cause I messed up on my first try at tuning them lol
Aiming projectors
Anomalous this is very helpful. I have been on a never-ending quest to aim the projectors in my car - like most others I love the look, but the low beams are so difficult to aim! When I converted to HID, the beam pattern changed dramatically (maybe this is why they say not to use HID's?). Anyway, I just swapped out chrome for black (look 10X better in a black SS/SC) and I'm once again trying to aim.
What would be helpful would be for you to take and post a pic of the projector lense up close after you have it aimed correctly. There is a chrome ring surrounding the projector, and your picture could be used as a reference by others and maybe that would result in fewer installs and removals of the lights, which is the biggest pain with these.
Thanks again for your help!

I totally agree with this.. im having a hell of a tiem aiming my projectors.. i cannot get rid of the gaping black hole in front of me, the only time it goes away is when the projectors are WAYYYY to high..

also does anyone else have this issue, where it seems the focus of the bulb is not where it is supposed to be
left

Right

both
yea man, yours is alot like mine... i dropped mine down quite a bit tho.. but its still wacked.. i can see all around ok, but where I need to see, I cant...
I have a feeling it has something to do with the left to right movement, or the bulb is not sitting in the projector properly.. there are two little rubber nipples on my hid bulb.. im wondering what the point of those are...

I don't recall seeing any "nipples" on the HID bulb. As for the left to right movement, maybe maybe not, cause if you look at my photos, you'll see the "z" is pretty much centered in front of the car, so i don't think it can be off by that much.
as a side note you may be right about how the bulbs fit into the projector, I think the bulbs may be too close to the projector lens, i noticed it was a very tight fit to pull the retainer clip across the back of the bulb.
just out of curiosity, where did you get your HIDs and projectors from. My Projectors were from NGA and bulbs from VISION

How do I optimize bulb or shield placement in a projector?
This is mostly applicable to halogen projector units upgraded with HID bulb. The idea here is to make 30-50% of hotspot rise below cutoff line. Pictured beam would be a typical E-code or harmonized pattern. The dotted circle represent the hotspot. Both bulb and vertical shield hight will affect outcome. Moving bulb or shield too much away from default position will have other negative beam consquences.
To be able to see the circle better, use one or two pairs of sunglasses. This will increase contrast between hostpot and surrounding light.
ANYONE KNOW HOW TO ADJUST THE BULB DISTANCE WITHIN THE PROJECTOR?
