Its a hose clamp that comes with the airfilter (usually) you tighten the screw and that shrinks the circumfrence of the clamp, there for tightening it onto your intake..

I did this mod today, and I'm not getting any whine from my sc? Am I doing something wrong? Also how do I disconnect the battery?

Thanks

Ehh... the difference should be readily noticible... did you put the bottom piece back on or something?

Nope. Had my lap top with the install & pics next to me while I did it. Car feels better, and seems to boost quicker, just no whine? I used the spectere filter same on in the install.

Happy with performance, but not the sound =(

You've gotta be shitting me... I did the exact same mod... same filter... and mine whines nicely when you get on it... maybe you should turn down your radio and open the window.

Then it's either one of two things...

1: you're not boosting

2: there's something else blocking the intake.

try taking the filter off and see if you can hear anything... if you leave it in neutral and punch the gas several times... get the RPMs up there... you'll hear it.

If I were'nt boosting would my gauge still work? It still working, and I don't feel like I have lost any power, like I stated if feels better, and boosted quicker.

Blocking the intake like how? What would I look for?

Before I installed the filter I did put the car and neutral with out in on, gave it some good revs, and nothing. I figured I needed the aftermarket filter on, but nothing.

Something really wierd is going on with your car then... I've never heard a LSJ not make some kind of SC noise when you get on it... even with the stock stuff on you can hear it just a little bit. With no filter on the whine should be even louder than with the aftermarket one...

I'd almost tell ya to unhook the whole air intake from up top on the supercharger... rev it then... if you get no whine with nothing on the end of the SC something's funky... though doing that might generate a MAF CEL.

Wouldn't I notice a huge loss in power if I weren't boosting? The car feel better than before, and I'm boosting a lot better. As far as something block the intake, what whould I look for?

I did a test without the filter before the install, and nothing, figured I needed the aftermarket filter to get anything?

you'd notice if the car wasn't boosting... for sure... as far as something blocking the intake... who knows... maybe there's an extra piece of plastic left over in there or something... hard to tell without taking it off... and I know you don't wanna do that.

I doubt you can really tell a difference with the new filter or not... it's like a 5hp gain at the most... and you can't seat-of-the-pants 5hp... maybe you've just got a really quiet supercharger....

one other suggestion... got an interstate nearby? go out for a jaunt... throw her into 3rd and wind that ****** out... if you don't hear nothin then... I just don't know...

stop revin the **** out of your engine in N ! Your gunna blow the damn thing id you keep it up...you dont hear much whine just reving it...the engine needs to have a load on it...go drive do first about to 4000...switch to second and hit the gas...stretch that gear out you should be hearing the whine during that second gear pull for sure. Also if your having someone listen for the whine make sure there in front of the car...

If you have a no cat. O2 sensor CEL... that may very well be keeping you out of full boost... you gotta either get an O2 simulator or get that thing fixed man... with bad signals coming from the O2 sensor... the car's gonna drive crazy.

there's one problem... full boost for a stock SS/SC should be just a hair past 12PSI... if you're only boosting 10 that's an issue...

I should have said 10psi @ 80mph or doest even matter.... I have a feeling I'm telling you wrong information.

I have never hit the rev limiter or pushed the car to the limit, so maybe thats what i should have said.

If you floorboard it in 2nd or 3rd you should hit 12... it'll definately go past 10... get your O2 simulator hooked up and clear that CEL... then we'll see how the car runs...

also... how many miles you got? it's gotta be past 1000mi before the ECU even opens up the rest of the boost...
you'll have to get above 5500 RPMs to see full boost in 2nd or 3rd...

Okay.... I just back from a little drive rode 3rd all the way to 4,000 rpm then punched it!
Man o man! Well I heard the Supercharger, and hit 13psi! Scared the **** out of some civic with a rice cannon as I blew past him! Well I think I was just babying the car too much. I have a Modded Z28 with 415rwhp NA. I'm not used to turbos, and superchargers so I din't know how they react, that the car is fairly new I bought it at 854mi, and now I'm at about 3,000mi All miles I put on the car were daily driven miles, never anything crazy.

Thanks again for all the help, and sorry to ***** this thread!

That's just fine... I'm glad everything worked out. You've gotta get on these cars to really get 'em to open up... now you know what she can really do.

wouldnt worry our bypass valve opens to bleed of extra boost if you want to see more than 12.5-13psi you need to bypass the valve

he's got nothing to worry about, stock is 12.5psi, opening up the box just made it easier to more air hence 13 psi.

there are cars running with 20psi on this site,

once he gets past 14-15 he may want to look into larger injectors but he won't get that cind off boost until he changes a pulley, in which case he's changing his injectors anyways.

enjow the mod and power.

if anyone is interested in this mod, I have my stock air box for sle
