So am I correct by saying this.....

If I buy an Injen CAI and install it myself, then I just unplug the negative battery terminal for 10 mins or so then put it back on and I should never get a CEL ?

If you'll note... the picture says "representative image"

As thus.... it's not a picture of the real thing... just an image to show you what a cone filter looks like.

I personally used the Spectre filter that was used in the original airbox mod. It was only $25... and has been problem free so far.

ebay special

How wide can you go, this AEM is only $14. Not too clear if this a dry filter or not, it explains washing with AEM solution and then just drying and reinstalling. I thought all dry filters weren't reusuable?

I love filters with the inverted cone in the center, my turbo Camaro just loved 'em with quick spool times.

3' inch opening
Includes 1 Clamp
7 inches long, 6 inch diameter at widest part

Can we get some dimensions form you guys on what will fit back in the box?

Thanks.

AEM dryflow is reusable. The pic doesn't look like an AEM to me but I could be wrong.

Heh, its like crack. Get a little, and want a lot more! I pulled the bottom off my box tonight (did a wire-job so the filter will stay in) because I couldn't wait for my dry flow to arrive. Sounds nice, but I want it louder! Come on Mr. delivery guy.

I used the K&N E-1009 and left the bottom of the box off. I have only gotten the CEL on two different days with high humidity after a heavy rain. I found on one of the forums that they do have an update for the computer. I talked to the dealer and they found there was 3 updates for the computer. One being for the CEL showing the engine was running lean. I have not gotten another CEL yet but I can keep you updated.

What can I give to my dealer to have them look up the CEL update? Will that let me run the AEM short ram among other CAI's out there?

after reading on all the issues and views, i just installed my K&N replacement today. looking at yalls views/opnions/advice i made a slight mod to go with everything here.

FIRST-
since i didnt want to mess with a clamp to support the filter to stay on and no holes after the filter what i did was cut the bottom part thats removable. i cut it a little less then half leaving enough for the 2 screws closest to the tire and part of the hump in the middle to keep the filter snug with no chance of it coming off.

SECOND-
i cut the filter box on the side closest to the fender of the car. the tube that goes all the way up and is open at the top, i pretty much just went straight down following it.

if i cold find my camera id take pics.

my question is this, are most of yall keeping the flap/guard on the bottom off or leaving it all on to get the louder sound? or is it load enough with the flap guard all screwed back on?

I got the CEL I found by reading in one of the forums that there was a fix I let them know that I had gotten a CEL and I had heard that there was a problem with getting a Lean error code when they looked up the error they found that there was updates.

I screwed the lower flap back in... it provides essential protection from the elements... and IMHO it's loud enough with it there.
