I'm *supposed* to have the KN filter waiting for me when I get home from work today, and hopefully enough sunlight to get the thing in tonight...I'll let you all know how the install goes and if I get any warning lights. Just so we have another example.

I love the dryflow I have on my silverado. What size did you use/model number? Do you get any cel's with the dry flow?

Did it ever go into 'limp home' mode when it threw the cel? My guess is in the time you've had it maybe once every 30-60 days or so you get the CEL right?

You pull the negative battery to reset? Would you say about 5 or so HP from it?

Well, I dont, last time I got a cel was last year, that count?
you can get cels for a number of different reasons, with the mods I am doing I cannot attribute it to a air filter at this point...

Hmmm .... you said once every 60 days and now its not since last year. Now take a deep breath in through your nose. breath it out slowly out you mouth. now determine what is the truth and dont listen to the voices in your head.

thanks.

SSNIPES what is your deal? you do realize I did that mod LAST SUMMER, RIGHT?

as far as having the mod goes when I had the oiled filter occasionally I had a cel, now I had other things done and it always wasnt po171, then I switched to the dryflow and have not had problems since then (LAST YEAR) but I occasionally get cels anyhow just not PO171, he was primarily asking about the limp mode and I have NEVER gone into limp, if you want to do some kind of study on the airbox mod then do it yourself and take notes
I'm sure your debadged trunk and k+n filter are just pushing the limits of your cars performance

I think your airfilter needs reoiling....catch my drift!

If you are doing the mod then use the dryflow and you wont have anything to worry about, I'm sure you know that k+n is not the best choice for the car right?

you probably already have a coat of oil on the maf anyhow so whats your beef?

AEM makes a shorty for it. Seems it makes more power than AEM's CAI and so they only have the Short ram available last I read. Might be worth a look.

ANd on th epluss oyu dont' have to worry about sucking water too.

i have a k&n e-1009 filter and the airbox mod on my car, and i've had it for 19,000 miles with no cel. i cleaned and reoiled the filter for the second time since i got it yesterday, and i checked the maf and there isn't a drop of anything on it. but i guess you and your aem dryflow are just too cool for me

ISO, your not going to "see " the oil, a thin and I mean thin skim coat of oily residue will adhere to the maf's wire and can cause problems, I had the oiled filter for a while but went to the dryflo to prevent anyproblems, now that I have a CAI I still use the dryflow, it just makes sense. Same thing on my 92x saab, the oiled filters cause the same maf problem, if you were to get electronics cleaner and look at the residue that comes off I would bet you would see the oily sheen from air filter oil come off the maf. good thing to do when you do reoil is a week after take the maf off and use electronics cleaner to get any oil residue, it is usually the first week or so that oil in the filter is "loose" and can be pulled into the intake tract
