Nice write up. I like the stuff a rag or cap where the turbo is so nothing falls in. It's be good to do the same with your engine oil cap(Do you HAVE to remove that?). Do not want anything falling into there either.

Thanks, guys. I never did cap my cold side pipe. I realize that means air pressure is just flowing through the open oil filler cap hole and the open valves out the exhaust and does create a little noise all on it's own, but it has never kept me from finding a leak. I use the soapy water method most of the time, anyway.

Shane, I don't know why I take the oil fill cap off. It was just something I was told way back in 1999, when I had DSM. I never asked, so I just kept doing it. There's a baffle inside the hole, but maybe putting a rag in it would be a good idea.

 

I just pop the oil cap loose, you don't have to completely remove it. I find the pipe leak finder they sell at hardware stores for natural gas to work better for finding leaks, it says wet and bubbles better than just soap and water

Our turbo outlet is what 2.5 ? I know it is not as good to test it this way, but I would like the option to do both ways.
I figure this can test it at the turbo and when I want to test it at the hot pipe (I think the preferred method) I can just clamp it on one side to a PCV pipe and the other side of the PCV pipe into the hotside pipe and then clamp.

This sound like it will work? ....I used to use this brand on my SRT4 worked great and it has a gauge built in....
