Debadging the rear
There have been a lot of people wondering how to remove rear badges so i figured i'd do a write up on it.
This is really easy and does alot for the look of the car.
i used-
an old credit card(to remove badge) you can use fishing line also.
meguiars body scrub
meguiars wax
hair dryer(optional)-but makes things easier
something to apply wax and body scrub with
heres a pic with the badge
now to start take the line or whatever you are using to remove it and slide it under the emblem. this is when you can use a hair dryer or heat gun to melt the glue a little and make it easier. once you have it removed get all the glue off with your fingers. now take the body scrub and apply it to get the last of the glue off. repeat scrubbing until you think it looks right. once you are satisfied with the body scrub apply some of the meguiars wax and remove. wash car and you are done.
heres a pic without the badge

heat gun makes it ALOT easier! and i use gasoline to get the rest of the glue off, works like a charm, just be sure to wash it right after, and wax the area again! it wont hurt the paint, but will take the wax off

I was going to use my heat gun, just didn't know how to pull the hot badge off. Did want to scratch the paint and I also have black, which shows everything. That is why I was looking for the safest way. So you didn't touch the paint with the pick tool right? You just pulled it off from the corner.

Well... after 3 unsuccessful tries with 12lb stren I got bored tonite... so I ran down to walmart and picked up a spool of 30lb monofilament spider line and some goo gone... put on my work gloves... wrapped about 3 turns of line around the badge and pulled...
the badge popped right off... no problem... I think I'm gonna let the remaining sticky stuff sit overnight and see if a little time to be exposed to the weather will help get rid of it... plus it's a little dark now.. heheh.

I used fishing wire to get mine off. Hot enough in florida you dont really need to heat it up.
However, to get the glue off someone said fingernail polish will work, and it did.
Now i think it ate thru my clear coat or something, as its kinda shiny in some parts, then other parts looks dull.
grr.
LSpower05, do you have a pic of the back of your cobalt that shows the entire back end?

Cool looks good. Did you use emblem adheasive to get them to stick back on?
All I've taken off is my bowtie on the back, but I might take off the supercharged one as well, for some reason the right side wont stay down and little sht like that bothers me.
I'm interested in doing the SS replacement of the bowtie in the front also.
