Appearance: Debadging the rear
I blocked it out with blue painters tape to protect the paint, and used a razor blade. To get the rest of the glue off I used acitone and a towel - worked great - but this sounds alot easier!!
i used wd-40... it said that it could be used as an adhesive remover. i have a full detail that i'm getting at the local car wash... it's free and i'm just wondering if this is going to go away. sorry i don't have any pictures... i'm at school right now and don't feel like walking home before my next class.
I know guys, Grave Digging is a
but just putting in my 2 cents
yea i know what ur talkin about the cloudy. when i took off the bull sticker from the dealer there was still glue left on it, so i figured why not try some rubbing alcohol. either rubbing alcohol is a big no-no or some other nonsense is going on. i did it at least 2 months ago and its still there.
I plan on either leaving the bowties plain or painting them match the color of the car, but I could fucked to do the paintjob honestly.
i debadged mine and my brothers cobalt. i left the bowties on both of them, on his all the ss emblems are off (doors and trunk) and on mine i left the door ss emblems but all the other's are gone, and i too got a little bit of the cloudiness where the ss was on my trunk but im pretty sure its from me rubbing a little too much. oh well a nice buff and polish will get it out.
NOT THRASHING OR TAKING CREDIT FOR THIS! i just removed my badges on wednesday and i used a hair dryer to get the glue as hot as possible. Then i used fishing wire to cut through the glue. I used the hair dryer again to peel the rest of the glue off with my finger nail. Finally i used General Purpose Adhesive remover by 3M (local body shop in stock) to remove the extra glue. waxed and that was it. I GOT THE IDEA TO DO THIS FROM THIS THREAD. definetly a great how to!!!
I used twine (after I broke like 5 pieces of dental floss) and then scraped the crap off with my finger nail and then goo gone to clean it and as soon as I was done with the goo gone I put the water to it to make sure it wouldn't do anything to my paint
I did just that and now that spot doenst shine like the rest of the trunk. I waxed twice and it only helped a little. When I pass my hand over it It sounds different then just the smoothness of the rest often paint. What should I do?
I also bought 6lb line and it kept breaking so i used an old credit card and it came right off. I used goo gone to get all the glue off and now if you look at it at a certain angle theres an outline of the chevy emblem. Is it that i didn't get all the glue off or could the paint be less faded there? It's weird...
