how to change your S/C oil (pics)

well since to my knowledge this has only been written up w/o pics i figured i might as well since it seems people still have questions...you will need 2 bottles gm supercharger oil, 1/8 od tubing, oil transfer pump

remove the plug on the sensor in front of the black plug on the front of the S/C then using an allen key(not sure on size) remove the black plug on S/C

slide tubing into the fill hole, using pump suck out as much oil as possible...my car has 16k on it and this is what the oil looked like

after removing all the oil that u possibly can using the same tube start replacing the oil with your gm S/C oil

notice the difference in oil color with the old and new

fill till the oil reaches the bottom of the plug hole..replace plug on S/C and sensor...get ready to rock and roll...

There is no need to change your s/c oil. Eaton states that your sc should last you the life of the car without maintenance.

Haha riiiiight. Nothing lasts forever. Well we are talking about a GM product. The life expectancy of this car is probably about as long as a diabetic albino oompa loompa...with AIDS. So Eaton could say it would last the "lifetime" of my car...about 90kmi.

you dont have to change it "but" if you have a smaller pulley they recomend to change it every 30, to 40 thousand miles, i have a 2.8 pulley and when i changed mine it was black as asphalt, and there was maybe 2 ounces in it to start with, so i was happy i changed mine, and also intense has bigger bottles of the stuff so you only need one and its cheaper, like 11 bucks i think.

No fricken way man, i had 40,000 miles on mine and it looked BLACK. My suggestion is replace it every 10-15000 miles or whenever you clean/change your airfilter/ CAI filter.

Its also good to see how much you have in the SC. I changed mine today and had only 2 ounces and that tube was in there 6 inches. Its a pain in the ass to get to but well worth the change.

i did this on a blower with 20k that i ported. It didnt look that bad, but it still didnt look good, or smell good. However i did change the oil when i took the s/c apart, so it was a lot easier for me.

Im going to change the oil in my s/c ATLEAST every 20k miles, just to keep it nice and clean

I called eaton.... They told me to change it every 15k-20k miles. When I asked the dealership, they told me 100k. Is a few dollars worth the wait? I mean, come on now. Spend a few dollars on the oil and just change it. It is a piece of mind!

Who did you speak to at eaton? Whoever it was, is WRONG. You dont need to change it for at least 100k miles.. many go 200k+ with no problems

also, you will need to revise these fill amounts.. you DO NOT want to fill it all the way up to the plug.. this will destroy your SC, thats WAAAYY to much oil

You sir are dead-wrong.

Many owner's manuals that use different Gen m62s state their supercharger's oil needs to be changed every 36,000 miles. It holds 8 ounces and alot of it is eaten(no pun intended) by the compressor so keep it full.

The supercharger will last 100,000 -125,000 miles on average without an oil change. Your extended warranty dies at 100,000. Nothing to be afraid of right? Be safer than sorry is my saying, however others who have the "if it isnt broken dont fix it attitute" generally are screwed way too late.

Choice is yours

"dead wrong" even funnier than you think.. thanks for that

and it doesnt take 8oz.. that is too much!!

Please show me your data proving they die between 100-125k without an oil change. They are designed and tested for 150k miles and pass with flying colors.. How much oil do you think they loose on a 150k mile test?

Never enter a battle of witts unarmed.

This site has way to many people that like to spout thier wrong opinions as facts and mislead the unknowing..

I'm contradicting the fill level.. if you overfill it you'll do more damage than good

You dont need to change it for a minimum of 100k miles.. if you want to change it sooner, go ahead, but its truly pointless. but just make sure you dont OVERFILL the supercharger. You dont need 8 ounces.. in fact, i think you only need 4.. but i'll double check on the proper amount for this SC

lol, I may be wrong..but I def. don't think I am.....you def. don't need 2 bottles to change ur s/c oil....If you overfill the snout then you will build minimal boost if any at all....the actual spec 2.5 fl oz. or around 75ml....the 2 bottles eveyone writes about is for an m90 on a grand prix........I have used 1 whole bottle of the s/c oil before and couldn't get my car to build any boost under full throttle.....When I switched s/c's under warranty and we drained my old one that's when we found they come with around 75 ml of oil from factory.....

True you do not need to change your s/c oil. I check with the chevy dealership and theres no need for service on s/c. Also eaton states that on their website. Do your research.

Don't burst people's bubbles - They are counting on the SC oil change for an additional 15 HP.

Different Gen m62.

We weren't the first to use em Shows about the same crap that is going on in this thread. The oil change is to promote life of the SC not gain HP. Also I dumped 6 ounces in there and it didnt change my boost levels like you claim.

This may be correct since when i drained mine i only got 2.5 ounces out. I put about 6 back in and dont plan to drain it.
