How To "Correctly" Use the Search Feature on COBALTSS.net
Hi guys, I figured I would give detailed instructions on how to "correctly" use the lovely search feature on .net.
On a daily basis, we get repeat threads that could have easily been avoided if the member knew how to use the search feature correctly.
Simply selecting search and keying in a topic does not get you anywhere (I understand that).
To really find what you are looking for, you need to follow the six (6) simple steps listed below:
Step 1:
Find the search feature in the upper right hand corner of the menu bar.
Step 2:
Select the drop down arrow. This will open up the search feature.
Step 3:
Select "Advanced Search".
Step 4:
Under the advanced search option, key in what you want to search under "Keyword (s)" (upper left hand corner).
Step 5:
Select the forum that best suits your topic you are searching (lower right hand corner).
Step 6:
Click "Search now".
Ex.
Keyword (s): Stage 3 kit
Forum: 2.0 LSJ Performance Tech
Search now
Disclaimer: This how to was not intended as a way to take jabs at newer members. It was simply made to help every member new & old to find what they are looking for.
I've been searching this way for well over 6 years now, and have always found what I needed.

go to google. type site:cobaltss.net your search terms here
Search in older versions of vBulletin such as this one makes me bonkers. Most of the results are just incomprehensible, so I use a real search engine to do searches. Right tool for the job and all of that.

Not knocking anyone for using another form of searching (def do so), but if you want to use the site search feature, follow my steps, and you will find what you are looking for. Guaranteed.

The main reason I made this was because members end up just typing their topic into the search feature, and end up getting nothing. This is followed by, repeat threads starting up, old heads getting mad, and all hell breaking loose, lol.
The advanced search takes you one step further, and helps you narrow everything down.

Either way you choose, at least this thread is available now, and will hopefully help people with their searches.
That is the main objective!!

This was/is a good thread, but what I also think needs to happen is have some of the mods go through and delete all the threads that say "go search" because all those step are useless if you still have to thumb through 10-15 threads of "GAWWWWWWSH WHY DON'T YOU SEARCH NEWB"
