Electrical: How To: Factory Cruise Control and Remote Radio Control Installation (2007- 2010)
OK. I got mine installed.
The harness from the HHR forum is NOT the same as the one from the Cobalt. The one we have has 3 connectors: 2 bezel connectors, and then a connector for the horn switch (red connector).

The Corvette was available without any wheel controls. 05 and 06 I believe.
VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE...
on my 09 i bought a used ss steering wheel and plugged in it and it worked without adding any wires for the radio... i already had cruise control it mutes the radio track up track down volume up volume down. just thought some of you would like a heads up

You simply put on the new steering wheel with absolutely no conecting of new wires?
this may have been something GM changed to cut costs.
perhaps they already have cruise enabled, so they could save time in production. I'd imagine this may be an 09+ thing, I'll try it on my 07 soon enough.

Here is the one I was thinking about
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...radio+controls
From what I'm reading, it seems like if you have cruise already then you don't need to wire anything to get audio...just a simple swap
Can anyone confirm this?

The wires to add the radio controls are there. I added bezels and the harness from a donor wheel (leather on the donor was not up to my standard, so I stuck with the stock one) and the wheel audio controls worked right off the bat.
I'm driving a 2007 G5 btw that came with the base model 2007 wheel (Only had DIC controls... nothing else).
As far as cruise, cruise DOES NOT work immediately when connected. You will need to take it to the dealership to have it enabled. GM just flashes the ECU for each car, so the Cruise in cars that didn't get equipped with it from factory will have it turned off in the ECU. The pins on the clock spring socket are there however.

09 and 10 cars are going to be different there is a lot of parts and option consolidation going on since the car is on its way out, expect some 09s to have the harness already and some not to, I would wager that all the 10s will have the audio harness since they all have OnStar. Something new for 2010 is the return of the base model,(LS is an option now again) and for the first time a Cobalt with no air, 2010 is gonna have weird **** happen
Yeah, which is why I suggest verifying the pinouts before ordering. I know changes in the pinouts is causing alot of issues for the HHR guys. Even if someone does end up with the wrong pinout, at least it is possible to fix it.

Success on my 2.2L G5 with just a wheel control (and harness) swap and a reflash. The service manager was dumbfounded.
I think you only need to do the pin additions if you don't have the BCM wiring there to support the cruise (Probably on very low trims of the Cobalt that don't even have MP3 capability or power locks...etc). The G5 Coupe is pretty much equal to the Cobalt LT, so I'd imagine the 07-10 Cobalt LT and higher trim levels are capable of doing just a simple swap. If you have the Grey wire in BCM Pin 61, you should just be able to do the easy bezel/wheel swap method. Mine already had an occupied pin 61 slot (By a grey wire), so it was already wired up to the clock spring.
Personally I just bought a leather wheel from LKQ Quebec for like 71 shipped, and I just yanked the harness and buttons out of it. I'm currently selling just the leather wheel (less buttons) on ebay to recover some of that cost.

Nope has nothing to do with your tune, and its not a "flash" its just checking an option box in the BCM, it doesnt even get hooked up to the computer, Tech2 and candi module is all thats needed.
what if i just wanted the leather wheel?
could i just take the harness from my 08ls wheel and plug them into the leather wheel and just have the same controls as my ls wheel but just have a leather wheel?
idc about cruise control and radio i just want a leather wheel

Yeah leather wheel is a direct swap, just take your switches and bezels and harness and swap em to the leather wheel. Ive got the leather wheel(and all the controls) in my LS.
Yep. All the bezels fit both wheels. I'm using the cruise and audio from a leather wheel on my stock non-leather one. I already sold the wheel though. You should be able to find stripped 07-10 wheels on ebay though, there are a few.
controls harness and plastic bezel.
I have the part numbers for the bezel and control switch but I cannot get a part number for the harness.
there are like 5 different ones to choose from. ced tried helping me out and we couldnt find the exact harness I need.
so i may just buy the whole steering wheel

The label on the harness gave the following number: 6092610 00A
It'll look like your current wheel... but only leather wrapped. The airbag emblem will be the same...etc.
