I agree with RedEcotecSS on the amps best use. Try turning the gain down. I've helped a few guys with Sony amps. They work O.K., you just don't want to push them.

you know, you dont have to run the line converter all the way underneath the back seat, you could just pull the wires up through your rear deck and then splice them into the line converter there. and run the RCA's back down throught the deck to your amp. thats what i did.

oh wait, nvm you are using your stock speakers. my bad, i didnt know you spliced into the wiring. but if you had aftermarket spekers, then you could do what i did :]

Thats what I did a few months ago. Got the LOC for $22 from my local audio shop. I wish I had of put it like you did, instead I spliced the wires on the harness, making me have to remove the headunit to fine tune the gains. Its nice to see variations. + rep

If your setting this up to run a amp for your subs you wont use the rear speakers ....it will sound like ass ..... u will unplug the wires going into your factory sub and tap on to those with your high level converter

i have a few questions i hope you guys can answer, whats going to give me the best sound quality out of my sub and amp, splicing into the back speakers or using the sub wires to go into my converter, as well do i need to use a fuse tap if i have a fuse on my power wire from my battery, and if the fuse tap is for a remote turn on, is there any other way to do this??

Thanks Alot
Ryan

I'd say splicing the wires right at the harness would be your best bet. The sound quality difference will be most likely unnoticable, from if you installed your LOC in the trunk. The signal wouldnt have to run through those small gauge wires all the way to the back. If you have the money, I would definitely just suggest buying an aftermarket deck. The LOC's dont produce as good of sound as you'd get out of an aftermarket headunit.

I did the exact same thing with my balt before but recently i was jsut jammin in some parking lot and i got out of the car to greet someone and i noticed that when the sub was going the rear lights would dim to the music a little.... next thing i know a week later i blow a fuse..... get that replaced (definately got the correct fuse) then next thing i know (again) about 4 days later i park my car in a hot parking lot. come back about 5-6 hours later thinking that im about to listen to some music but the amp wont turn on. i though that the hot car just was the problem with it so i go home wait to about 12 that night and go outside to try and see if its still not working it doesnt so im thinkin that its the amp so i go over to a buds house and plug his amp up but it wont turn on either..... any suggestions on why this might be going on?

bad ground, bad connection i would start there and double check all your wiring. and it would actually be ideal to tap into the stock subs wiring, that would be optimal for sound quality IMO

alright i have a question.
I have an Alpine Vpower 4 channel amp.
do i need to run two LOC's because there are two sets of inputs on the amp, so i was thinking i should run one LOC from the front speakers and one from the back?
any suggestions?

Today I bought the Metra wiring harness, dash install kit, and a deck and scrapped my LOC. The sound quality I get now is amazing. I got it all for around $170. The deck sticks out about a quarter of an inch though too far, because its too long. Anyone know how you can see the size of one on the box or something? Besides having to buy it and measure?

P.S, for anyone wondering, I have an 05 balt and using the Metra Harness does not effect your door chimes or make any check engine lights or anything come on. It works great.

Hey guys, thanks for the write up. I have a few quick questions.
1) I assume the amp will need a ground? Just tie into the battery ground?
2) I have seen some peoples main power wire have a built-in fuse, do I need one? If so what size of fuse should I be looking for?
