how to: paint stock headlights

ok so first thing first pull your headlights out and take all the bulbs and wires and all the good stuff out.

next is the scary part... go preheat your oven to 213 degrees.
once the oven is preheated go ahead and pop in 1 headlight at a time, i put them on a cookie sheet with towles on it worked just fine

leave it in for about 12 minutes but it will be diffrent for every oven so just watch it, you want the molding to start to get gooie.

then just pull the lense cover off i used a flat head screw driver to help me get the clips off

i just used regular painters tape to tape off everything i didnt want painted.

and your ready to prime it!

once its primed and looking good ready for paint

when your finish your paint do preheat the oven again and do those steps in reverse
heres a finished product

feel free to ask any questions

Don't use the oven (unless you know what you're doing)!! Take your time and use a hair dryer. I thought I knew what I was doing, rushed it, and got shafted with a broken headlight.

How the hell did you do that? I mean, just follow the directions? People have been doing this to headlights for years and years... You really cannot do more than 200 degrees, so say 225 degrees, but for less time.

Im curious what you did?

A thing or 2....

The orange marker light just pops out. If you don't want it painted, pop it out, then reinstall after painting.

Getting a tube of OEM sealant from the dealer or a parts store is a good idea, so you can properly reseal the lenses when you reassemble. If you don't get OEM sealant, clear silicone works well. If you've painted them black, black silicone is a better choice.

No need for the towels on the cookie sheet.

210 degrees for 10 minutes is fine.

Be careful using the flat screwdriver on the clips. If you don't pay attention you can snap a clip.

On the back of the lights, there are 3 screws. If you take them out, the actual headlight bezel seperates from the rest of the housing, making it much easier to paint neatly.

And finally, if I'm not mistaken, there's at least 1 how to on this already.

Hope that helps.
