Interior: How To: Paint your dash
#351
Once I figure out how to take the dash off, to do the vents, I'll take some pics. Can't seem to find anything on removing the dash though. Anyone shed some light on it? I got the lower pieces off but don't know how to get to the screws on the top.

no offense, because it does look good..
any painter will tell you you cant wax fresh paint for three months. just because it looks and feels dry does not mean it is. the result of premature waxing is tiny bubbles in the clear. you see the wax prevents the paint from breathing, resulting in defects, and/or total paint failure.
just trying to help out anyone who might consider this how-to. its important to know all the facts.

has anyone done this in gloss black? I'm painting all kinds of stuff on my car right now, and I'm debating on this because I want something on the interior to pop out. But I'm just not sure...

Are dash kits for sale
You guys have done a wonderful job painting the trims. But I am wondering if the trim kits are available for sale anywhere. I want to have a set that matches the red on the seats and door panels for my 2009 Cobalt SS. I am looking for the piece around the radio, the right piece above the glove box and the two pieces to the right and left of the steering wheel. I know I am looking for the easy way out, but I have already installed the dome light, the armrest and a Car computer.

I used Krylon the first time I did my dash and the red pepper color matches victory red pretty well, but the job didn't turn out quite as well as I wanted it to.
I found that Dupli Color adhesion promoter, the right color of Dupli Color paint for you, and Dupli Color Clear Top Coat paint from Advanced Auto worked very very well. You just have to make sure you sand your plastic pretty well before you paint it. I took the time and sanded off the factory color layer before painting.
