I recently painted my supercharger, valve cover, fuel rail cover, fuel line cover and CAI tubing.

Pulled the parts i wanted to paint, cleaned with a brush and red scotch brite pads with laquer thinner. Washed all the junk off of them. Hung them up sprayed them off with thinner and dried them


This is after i cleaned them and scuffed them with a scoth brite pad and washed and rinsed them with thinner. Ready to hang up and tack.

I sprayed them with a self etching epoxy direct to metal primer. I used Axalta Metalok etch primer but any self etching metal primer will do as long as its automotive paint. This will allow the paint to stick to the metal surface. If u dont use an etch primer under your paint it will peel off over time. I let it dry for 30 minutes.






After my primer dried i started spraying my basecoat which is my color. I sprayed it right over top of my primer wet on wet.



I allowed my basecoat to dry and flash out for 30 minites and then i sprayed clearcoat over top of my base. Im using Axalta products. Imron Elite Basecoat and im using Axalta High Solids Glamour Clear. There is alot cheaper products out there but this is what i had laying around from some old paint jobs so i figured i would use it up.


I will post more pics of it when it is installed on the car and i will post the pics of the other parts i painted. Any questions or tips feel free to ask.

Looks super nice!! I was wondering how long it would last, then you went into talking about etching the bare metal and then I noticed you're in a legit paint booth using a $$$$ gun, so I no longer even need to question it now. For the less skilled painter like me, I went the expensive route and painted my engine and valve cover with cerakote air dry using using a $20 gun after oxide blasting them, the stuff is a bit more forgiving but doesn't result in your amazing type of finish.

Thanks man i appreciate it. Cerakote is a really durable product. I spray that on a lot of guns. The finish I went with will last for a very long time since it is a high solids clear. Its really resistant to heat too
