Haven't tried to many different soaps, went from OTC stuff to Adams and like the Adams enough I have no need to test anything else, although I don't put the soap into the bucket, I put it on the mitt then dip the mitt in the bucket. And if I'm going to do a strip wash I add an all purpose cleaner to the bucket

Adam's is good stuff. I found them to be a little pricey however. If you're a weekend warrior and only was your car(s) then it's fine, but if you do more than that it gets too pricey. I sometimes mix APC with Meg's Gold Class to strip or just use Dawn. I fill up my bucket 3/4 of the way with water then add my soap and then fill the rest with a strong stream to activate the suds. Have you tried Adam's new wheel cleaner?

I guess it works out good for me with them being near me, I just drive up to the wearhouse and buy it there. The new wheel cleaner is awesome if your wheels are trashed, I detailled an abused Subi outback and used it on the rims washed away all the caked brake dust with no scrubbing, rims looked new. Its excessive for detailing freaks, I just used the car wash soap and Adam's boars hair brush, then seal with Adams Quick Sealant

I have not tried any Ammo products yet. The guy makes great videos and seems to know what he's doing and talking about. I like how in his vids, while using his products, he's not trying to excessively sell you his products. He'll even mention other products that can do the same.

Yeah their new wheel cleaner looks great for heavily baked on wheels. It'll be a waste to use as a weekly maintance cleaner. I like using CG Diablo wheel cleaner 8:1 or even 10:1 for my weekly washes. Although sometimes I simply use car soap to clean them. Adan's APC works great for tires. I assume that's what you use?

Their car wash soaps suck lubricity and cleaning wise, their interior protectants and tire glosses are overly greasy, and their waxes are a joke (They may give 3 weeks protection if you are lucky). The Meguiars Professional line of products are OK, but their consumer products are about on par with the over the counter Turtle Wax and Mothers Products.

I am probably more OCD when it comes to detailing than most people, but I used to do professional detailing and have tried lots of different products and have seen what works and what doesn't

Great write up! I use the two bucket method but I like how you sheet the water off the car. I'll have to try that the next time I wash it!

a tip for those riding their cars through the winter:

take your car through a touchless wash before washing it at home.

the underbody blast is needed to get the salt and crap off and that way you still dont have those nasty rollers scraping your nice finish up. plus you have a good headstart so ur not scraping salt on your paint as much while washing
