How to remove badges ( 56k = :( )
Tools required:
Hair dryer
GooGone (tm)
50lb fishing line
Ice scraper
Here is what you start with:
Badges to remove:
You want to heat up the badge with the hair dryer so that the molding tape glue loosens. Your finger nails will hate you if you don't.
Once the badge is hot enough make a loop with the fishing line and run it under the badge. Continue to heat the badge and pull on the line too.
After removing the badges, scrap as much of the mold tape off with your fingers (or the ice scraper if you have alot, like I did at first), then apply the GooGone(tm) following the instructions. Ive heard that nail polish remover or gas will work also, but they both smell bad and i like the orange smell of GooGone(tm).
After you get all the badges removed don't forget to put wax over the removed areas, or just do the whole damn car like me.
In the end you end up with a nice smooth ass like this:
And no more stupid GM logo on the side:
You can use restick your badges if you want, all you need is some side molding tape that you can pick up at ur automotive store.

I would propose a different option. Instead of fishing line, use a plastic paint scraper. They are cheap and at any hardware store. Using the heat, move the scraper between the paint and the adhesive only as fast as the heat will allow. You remove the complete badge and adhesive in a single pass, with no damage to the adhesive or paint. You won't have any glue or sticky stuff at all left on the car. That's how I did mine.

try a little polishing compound. I have the stuff made by Turtle Wax and it takes the scratches out as long as they arnt too deep. You could also try wet sanding the spot if the polishing compound doesnt work.

Do not using polishing compound if there is still adhesive on the surface. Remove all of that first, then use the compound to clean up the scratches. Goo Gone should not be scratching your paint. Be sure you are using a clean cloth. The adhesive being removed shouldn't scratch either.

I got some stuff that i'm gonna try tonight I think. Hopefully it works out.
I'm gonna wet sand another part where I used touchup paint and you can kind of notice it still.
If I can get ahold of a camera I will do a before and after pic

probably not even noticable compare the inside of your door, to an outside panel & see if you notice a difference. is the sun really intense there? I would start off w/ the cobalt letters & see what it looks like, then go from there..

My friend works for a body shop and when he removed my rear bow-tie he used a heatgun to soften the adhesive and a plastic paint scraper, there was adhesive left over so he busted out is drill mounted body eraser. took all the tape off very nicely.
I feel a combo of fishline/heat/ eraser will be sweet. and is what I will do on the other badges.
always more then 1 way to skin a cat.
