Appearance: How-To: Replace a Burnt Out Halo
Just wanted to post some info since I finally got around to replacing the LEDs in my burnt out halo...
First of all, Radio Shack only sells one kind of 3mm LED, and it's red, soo that's a no go... The proper 3mm LEDs can be ordered online. But I was in a hurry, and I figured I'd try and go brighter, soo I tried some 5mm's.
I used "high intensity" white 5mm LEDs from Radio Shack. I de-soldered the old 3's off the base and stuck the 5's in there place. The more difficult part came when trying to shove them back into the headlights. You need to cut/grind/file/etc a bit of the slot inside the headlight to make these bigger lights fit. I still had fitment problems, soo I actually bent the LEDs toward each other into a "V" shape instead of the original "T" shape and they cleared the housing and slid into place...
Overall it is a decent improvement. They are a bit brighter, but nothing special. If you do not feel like really having to mess with the halo LED slots to fit the bigger bulbs, then just get the 3mm LEDs. I'm just happy to have them fixed...

Pics or BAN!!!!!!
I don't believe so... I had to ghetto-rig both of mine since I am now using the pre-wired 3mm led's.... It doesn't look as good, but we will see...

Just flip the light over you'll see where the white/black wires go in through a gromet like thing. Pull the gromets out and you'll be able to see inside the light. Follow the wires inside the head light. You'll see the rubber connectors that hold the little circuit boards with the leds on it. They are easy to get out...not so easy to put back in.
just like it says on the first page man...
