How much sanding needs to be done with 600 grit or is just to get it rough so the paint will adhere?

just finished mine, put 2 more coats on it and looks like a smoked black mirror, its sweet. just sand enough to get it rough thats all you need to do. its sticks pretty well

Just did this to my side markers, reverse lights & tail lights. Worked great!! The clear top coat really makes them shine after!

Excellent how-to. I just did mine today, and I have to say, they look great. (Not happy with how the reverse lights turned out, but that's my fault - they look fine from 2+ feet).

recently i've checked out some of this tinting **** from a hobby store. not sure of the brand but it comes in a tiny can and its called "Window Tint Spray". Used it on three cars and its come out awesome on all of them. Havent had a problem after a month or so.

I just did mine, the two brake lights and side markers turned out fine, but I fucked up the reverse lights by sanding them with 100 grit before painting instead of the 400 grit that I started with on the other lights.

My question is do I just sand all the paint off then get it reallly smooth then just paint again?

any help appericated

I talk to some local cops about tinting my lights with out being pulled over they said if you take a flashlight to your taillights and if the red reflects they wont really care and wont pull you over even thou it still illegal. They said just don't drive on the interstate because they are real strict about tinted taillights.

I think I did about 2 or 3 thin coats...at night mine look solid black (when they're not lit), and in the day you can see the red, but they do look black.
