if you sand the lights it helps the paint to adhere better rather than the slick surface of the factory light. You only need to use a fine grit, nothing thats going to tear the light apart.

For mine I used 1500 gritt and you really cant see any blurry/cloudy marks which would be more noticeable considering how I have the image in the center off the light.

Also to the user asking about VHT - I know in Calgary I can still buy cans at a Performance Parts shop on 16th Ave & Center St. (thats highway 1 - dumb calgary planners just change its name when you drive through). So I know it might be a drive but thats one option.... If you ask on the Mid West Forum you might be able to get one of us to buy a few cans and mail em to u?

ha, not to be a dick, but Pontiac is apart of GM. The g5 and cobalt have the same chassis. And the g5 gt is the regular cobalt SS.

My last message was to this^

sanding them would F up the lenses if you only wanted a light coat. The niteshades is actually a dark dark red, so if you're going to tint your headlights use something else.

check the traffic act it should be online for your state for all of Canada its Illegal to have them tinted and specifically in Alberta its ilegal to even have the tail light covers (the type you see on the dodge trucks etc).

That being said I custom designed mine and have had them for the last 4 - 6 months and have had cops compliment me on them...

well aside from our Alberta cobalt meet where the small town officers decided to ticket and force us to rip all the tint off our windows... at that time the asked me to take the tint off right there and I politely responded with "Its custom done, its spray on tint... unless u have a can of Varsol and 6 hours to wait while i strip and scrub them its not coming off..."

^_^ Anyway you should be able to find out that way... basically if you see anything that says they have to be able to see "X" amount of ___(wtf ever unit they use to measure light visable) then chances are tinting them will be illegal.
