Interior: How to upgrade the stock Pioneer sub to sound awesome and look stock. (With Pics)
So I followed this guide and everything works fine. Only one problem, my amp gets very hot to the point of almost burning me if I touch it only after about 40 to 45 minutes of music, not all of it loud. I have the GM-5300T amp and pioneer speaker recommended in this guide. The amp is running in bridged mode and the gain is at about 4v. Is there something I have done wrong or am I overdriving the amp? Any help would be appreciated.

Make sure that all the screws on the front of the speaker are removed and that the big bolt in the back is removed. Then pry it up with a flat head screwdriver and work your way around the rim. It is glued in lightly but should come up.
There's that bolt in the back. Undo that and if it still gives you issues, a screwdriver will lift it.
hey guy who made this thread i wanna run a kicker comp but looks like i gotta cut out that thing in the back where the screw goes in to that hits on my kicker i wonder if it would matter if i cut it down abit? anyone know?
I was wondering that toom but from from those pictures its in there. He did say he had to make some changes to the box though. I just looked and the mounting depth for a 10W7 is 8 inches. I have an Alpine SWR-1042d thats 6.8" mounting depth laying around I wouldn't mind trying to fit in there.
Quick question does it need to be 2 channel brigable amp ONLY if I'm using a stock head unit? Because I was told to use a mono amp, and I have an aftermarket H/U. I wanna make sure it will still work if I use a mono amp.
just done this to my car.. had a custom fiberglass box that took up half my trunk in my 06 ss and wanted my trunk back when i got my 2010 luckily i bought 2 kenwood exelon shallow enclosure subs.. fit directly in the stock enclosure no cutting or anything and looks like the jl one the guy done on this thread.. have a m500 alpine amp running at 4 ohms(sub is svc 4ohm ) and its double the loudness as the stock sub and am noticing alot more frequencies that i didnt hear from the stock sub.. AND I HAVE MY TRUNK BACK with no extra weight.. maybe gonna make a replica enclosure for the right side of the trunk so i can run both at 2 ohms.. but we'll see how spring goes..
