Thumbs up will the steering wheel controls still work??

does anyone know if you have to get a special harness or adapter to use the steering wheel controls for the radio. it says you will lose driver info if you do not get the apapter that is 100 bux or so. info would be what song is playing and such not the function so i hope it will be ok. anyone with a aftermarket headunit not use the expensive and use a basic harness and still use controls on the steering wheel? oh yeah and i have an 05 ss sc model if that makes a diff. with the 7 speaker pioneer sub system

yes u need a module to keep steering wheel controls. You dont need the 100 dollar harness for an 05 balt without onstar.

so...i installed my head unit two nights ago....and i guess my sunroof fuse doesn't work. Fuses don't seem to fit inside of it. Instead i tapped the door lock fuse (constant), and just have to make sure i turn off the head unit before i get out. when off, there is only a single very small LED illuminated on the faceplate, so I'm not worried about the battery or anything. Anyone else have any issues like this? and are there any other switched power sources in the passenger fuse panel?

You can use the yellow (constant) and tap it to the stock harness if you want.. OR run it to the fusebox to a constant.. then, take the red wire(accessory) and just wrap the one small piece of it, to the one side of the fuse, and shove it into the slot.. I had mine on sunroof.. and it worked like this..

if you want to use your factory amp, its the blue(from your aftermarket hu), to the pink wire on the main harness for the vehicle.. this turns the factory amp on.. the stereo will sound like absolute ****, but it works.. cause you'll have like 400watts of power powering little made in china I wanna-be Pioneer speakers.. but yea.. best bet for the ss/sc guys.. you gotta hardwire your ****.. its a bitch.. i had my best friend do mine.. and he had a field day.. but we worked off his car(an installer friend of ours did his).. but yea.. its your basic needs.. and simple.. good how-to btw..
