mass air flow cleaning

Is there a special way you need to clean you mass air flow sensor i heard you can ruin them if you do it the wrong way.. and im not 100% sure on how to do it if neone can help me that would be great

disconnect your battery (just to be safe; not sure if necessary), unscrew the airbox/MAF from the hose leading to the throttle body, and then spray the maf down with MAF cleaner or electrical contact cleaner; it will dry by itself. then put it all back together, reconnect the battery; and then start your car and let it run for a minute. turn it off; turn it back on and go drive it

Use MAF cleaner..lightly spray from 10-12 inches away.. let dry on its own.
But unless you have ran it for awhile with your air filter off or you have over oiled a aftermarket filter then it shouldnt be dirty...
My friend had a POS sunfire with a ebay CAI and a K&N filter and he let it get so dirty that dirt filled in the ribs on the filter..lol..but the inside of the intake tube was clean..lol..
