KC area random talk thread
I don't like this car lol I have always liked the fit and finish of an s2k plus bullet proof engines (unlike ours) and if I get bored with the power its making I will just supercharge or turbocharge it now the rx7 that's just a car I have always wanted to have
Its not hard, but its not exactly easy to make a lot of power out of a turbo s2000. You need the right combination of parts and efficiency. Expect to pay around 16 grand on top of the car for 600 plus.
I have a 625whp s2000 FWIW.... So I'd like to think I know a little about the cost of making 600 plus on an s2000.
With boost in AP1s you need to watch your stock retainers as it is semi-common that they crack. AP2 retainers are a direct replacement, don't crack, and cost a little over 50 dollars for a whole set from Honda. When boosting both AP1s and AP2s, you need to watch out for warping exhaust valves. They'll warp and eventually snap in half. Inconel Supertech valves are what most people replace them with. Other that weak axles, weak differential, and weak 2nd gear theres not much else to go wrong. Just get a solid tune with REAL engine management. Not a stupid piggy back Greddy E-manage or junk AEM F/IC.
Stupid **** that people say to do that you should avoid is:
"you need to replace 00-01 s2000 2 hole oil jet bolts with the updated 2002 4 hole oil jet bolt design." They are a bitch to replace and the reason why people say to replace them doesn't even make sense. They say you need the new 4 hole oil jet bolts to prevent cylinder scoring.
"Precision turbos are junk" Most people are retards and run improper oil feed restrictors and then blame it on the turbo when they blow a seal. S2000s have a lot of oil pressure.
"If you want boost, you need to lower compression with a thick headgasket to lower compression. 11:1 compression is bad for boost." In reality the dynamic compression ratio with the cams in VTEC is like 8.8:1 so its not bad at all for boost. Theres at least a thread on s2ki every couple of weeks of people bitching that they blew their 3rd thick headgasket. They simply don't last and if theres any detonation, the head gasket lets go. The piston goes up above the deck of the block so the thick gaskets just get beat up and fail.
Erik at House of Boost in KC tuned Joey's before to 509whp. Joey was very happy with it. Otherwise, I could see if my buddy, Scott, down there could tune you as well. Not too many people in the area who I'd trust. I just got back a week ago from driving all the way up to Minnesota for my re-tune. Everyone said I was crazy to drive it 7 hours each way and not trailer it.
Mach 1 most likely. i found one that has a forged short block put in it by anderson performance ford 7k ago. and the car has 51k. but i think im gonna wait til june bc im in school too much right now.
John, The dealership i went to said they would give me my payoff on my car, which was 12,740. Or so I thought. Turns out my pay off is 11,165. But i'll krep telling them its 12,740 lol
