Why not take over an area downtown? Take over a lakefront parking lot or something?

Lots of great photo ops there.

Intense_SS, some suggestions to you is this, try making some phone calls, see where you and (plan for 25 cars) can meet up and loiter. Nobody likes driving 2+hrs to a meet, only to arrive and nobody is there, then to find out it was moved down the road because the owner of the building told them to leave....(its happened)

Once summer gets here I will be pushing for a meet at the Byron IL drag strip. Its a nice track, real casual, and if you need a big lot for pics there is room at the track or in a nearby park with a nice background for photos. Plus restaurants either in Byron or in nearby Rockford.

i think we should meet at raceway 41 in indiana or joliet raceway..they are both nice tracks and have huge lots for tons of cars and pics and stuff.....i will call to see if we can like rent the track out for a 5 hours or something and we can take pics and cook out and do some racing!!!! what you guys think bout that.

I know US41 has rentals.... I've been to a couple meets there put on by the Monte Carlo club. I guess its a nice enough track but I always tell people to bring a cooler full of food and drinks. Its pretty rustic.

I'd be willing to go to either Byron or US41. Just keep in mind, that if we do a track rental it has to be a really big turnout to make it worth the expense.

You'll never afford Route 66. We've tried for other things in the past.

Also if you wanna do a meet at GLD I can make sure we get dedicated lanes since I know everyone there.

GLD is Great Lakes Drag up in Wisconsin.

Personally I like Byron the most and then Route 66 places right behind it. Byron is cheap and it is a well prepped track, plenty of places to park and take pics too! Plus its never super crowded unless its like UTI Drags or things like that.

Byron isn't a bad track I just don't like the downhill slope it has. It's always given me false times compared to other tracks like GLD and 66.

Like I said I know everyone at GLD so I could simplify the meet organization a little bit.

If its in April I'll make the hike out that way. I've been telling the girlfriend we'll get away for a weekend in chicago, and that would seal the deal if I could meet up with some fellow balt owners

ok well lets get this thing started.....we will have a vote to see where the best track would be...if you are interested in the meet leave a time period you would like to meet around and the track or area you want to do this at....so far the suggested area's are raceway 41, route 66,GLD, and byron...and the dates are pretty open prolly around march or april!!! leave you thoughts and suggestions cause i really want to make this happen i dont know about you all but lets do this!!!!

Maybe a SCCA Time attack day at Joliet followed by dinner at White Castle? Don't have the schedule yet, but I'd be game for the dragstrip, too.

Byron is south of Rockford a little ways. Nice track, easy to get to. They will reserve lanes for us if we request, and will give us trophys too. There is probably some minimum number they need to get the trophies. Also they are very casual, lots of places for everyone to park and hang out in the pits and staging lanes, and they have food (much better than the food at US41). There are restaurants and motels nearby too.

If I remember right, most of these tracks open up in early April but I'd suggest having it in at least May or June so it will be warmer.

Byron won't give you trophies. The groups that rent the lanes do that themselves. For Byron to give you a lane you need 20 people.

As stated my choice is GLD. Lots of photo op spots out there too and TONS of room for everyone. Hell you guys could make your meet the same day I'm having my J-Body Shootout Race. I'll let you guys into our lanes and make sure you get a decent amount of runs. My meet is scheduled for June 24th and is set to coincide with a Import Wars event so everyone can compete in the classes too and make some money. We got peeps coming from across the country to this event already so maybe someone here wants to spread the word on this site.

Maybe someone can even prove that a Cobalt can break into the 14s without replacing everything in the drivetrain. LOL.

The trophies we got last year were given to us by the track - I don't know the details since I wasn't an organizer.

You've got the right idea with the June 24th date. April is cold and windy, and since these meets always produce as many spectators as racers, they get miserable quick when its cold. June/July should be good.
