Trifecta or HP Tuners Chicagoland area!!!
Ok, with still debating on what to do with my balt, if I do keep it, the turbo is going on asap. If I do keep it, I need someone locally to help me tune it. Loud ss/sc was supposed to do it, but he hasn't been on here since November. Anyone??? I need a price too
Chicagoland as well
Hey I was talking to a guy in Bridgeview since im right by midway as well. He is a trifecta tuner, but with no shop or anything.. But his name is on the Trifecta website so i wonder if hes good or not. If anything I will get my car retuned this spring and let you know how he is.. hopefully you decide to keep the balt by that time.
Canned yes but is it good canned
Ur right on the canned part. But is it good and from what I hear it is really good. I personally want a custom tune since I'm in Chicago and it's 600ft above sea level. But not sure how much it would cost for a custom tune
No, it is not for many reasons. First, Vince is a computer programmer, and does a great job doing programming. His tunes leave MUCH to be desired. Second, TF is a semi custom tune, but when the tuner can't ride in the car and diagnose and tune accordingly, its not a custom tune. Vince can't run the car on the dyno, he can't tune according to the weather in the region, and he can't diagnose the car if there are issues.
A custom tune in the region knows how to tune for the weather. For instance, here in the midwest, we have harsh winters, unlike many places in the nation. I have tuned many cars, and I know how to tune for the region. Vince may have BEEN to Chicago, but probably not in the winter, and probably not to tune a car. Plus, if you have issues, you can't just call up the shop and tell them whats up.
I guess it boils down to being each to their own, but saying Trifecta is a custom tune is not quite right.

trifecta is most definently a custom tune. theres nothing canned about it. a canned tune would be gms1 or zzp tune.
and about the "leaves much to be desired" actually that is false. ive seem plenty of trifecta cars beat hptuned cars. and vice verca. vince makes sure his tunes are a little on thhe safe side tho. it all boils down to what u prefer.
a custom tune is a tune that is meant for YOUR car and your car only. vince adjusts the tune for your mods, type of gas, DA, temperature, etc. it all shows when you datalog. vince doesnt have to go to chicago to see what its like. all you have to do is datalog and send it to him, he will see what needs to be adjusted. if the weather gets colder (like summer ending and winter starting) all u gotta do is datalog and shoot him an email, and bam, problem solved. its actually more convinient than having to rely on meeting up with someone in person for every little kink in the tune. also, vince could outtune a very large number of people who use hptuners.

Like i said, to each their own, I guess.
trifecta is a custom tune, furthermore a trifecta dealer data logs. Therefore it is a custom tune, Idk where you get your information. Since your in an LNF shop you should probably know, kids drive cobalts, kids like 25psi, kid breaks car. As long as target boost is acquired with proper timing & afr a motor should not blow up.
also trifecta has many fuel tables not available on hptuners, which is why many people are having a dual tune going on.
trifecta is data-logged by dealers, trifecta is data-logged by dealers...

yeah well i cant even tell you how much i have seen kid want 28-30 psi and vince originally saying its ok with infina boost and bye bye rings or pistons....24psi on an lnf is max....anymore your flowing hot air
trifecta is very safe as long as u keep it below 24 psi (id assume any tune below 24 psi would be safe if the tuner is ok)
also, the options trifecta has is well worth the tune as well. having a selectable tune is very convinient.
the best tune out there still remains the trifecta/hptune combo tho. however trifecta alone will be fine for me. 22 psi and 320whp selectable tune sounds nice to me.
the only thing needed by viince is his fueling. the fact hes even willing to tune to more then 25+ shouldnt even happen weather people want it or not. personally i havent had luck with his tuning even with hpt over it....i made more power on my stock fuel tables alone then i would have been able to with vinces fuel tables.
