Casey Chevrolet has added another cobalt ss/tc to their lot, its a white one this time. so far, they have the black ( maybe 2) ,blue, silver and now white. pretty soon everyone will just assume that all cobalt SS's are turbo charger!

Anyways, enough of the small talk. Let's get to the point. I'M F*****G PISSED OFF!!! Navy = Epic Fail (for now). Okay, here's what happened. Today, my wife got a call from her recruiter. It was a short conversation on the phone, and she was on her way to his office. She gets home, tells me what happens, and I am mad. We have been dealing with the Navy for almost 1 year just to get her in, and us moved out to VA. She's passed all the physicals, her waivers were approved, the commissioning board approved her, the Secretary of Defense signed off on her commission, and we received orders at the end of last week that said she was set to go to ODS in Rhode Island for the class starting 11/16, and her final day of work at her current job is tomorrow night (11/11). Now, we find out that something happened that may make her wait until the next class on 1/4, and it's all the Navy's fault. Yet, both of our jobs have received our notices to quit, our landlord has been informed of our move, and I have a one-way airline ticket to flyback to Utah after I get the first Cobalt to Virginia. So, here is what we've been told. Apparently, when the Commissioning Board first saw her file they approved her for the rank of Ensign, with credit towards promotion for the time she has spent as a civilian nurse. Some how, before the papers reached the Secretary of Defense, the rank was changed to Lieutenant Junior Grade. The Secretary of Defense signed the papers for that rank. The papers went back to the Commissioning Board, they noticed the change in rank, after the orders had been issued for her to go to school and then report to Portsmouth, and cancelled/voided the orders. The cancelling of the orders was done today. My wife is supposed to fly out for ODS on Saturday. Fortunately, new commissioning papers were given to the Secretary of Defense at the end of last week and he was expected to sign them. However, he didn't. New orders cannot be made until he signs the commissioning papers. So, my wife goes to her recruiters office. The recruiter calls his command in Denver. The officers there go up the chain of command, etc. Now, Admirals are kicking everybody's ass to get this whole mess straightened out ASAP, because my wife hasn't signed anything yet, and they really want her in the Navy. After all, she was 1 of only 77 chosen for the Nurse's Corp out of over 400 applicants this year. The Admirals have given the green light to a situation I have never seen happen in any branch of the service before. Because we are going to be jobless she will be given a job, at her rank of Ensign with full pay and benefits for her and me as a dependant while working as a recruiter until the January 4th ODS class starts, if she misses the 11/16 class. She will be given housing pay for our area until she departs, and given seperation pay because, I cannot extend my departure date with my job, and this causes us to be seperated for more than 45 days. The time spent will be counted as time in rank and service towards promotion to an O-2, along with ODS, etc. And, because I have spent money on an airline ticket that is now going to be useless, I will try to see if the airline and Travelocity will agree to credit towards a future date, and the Navy will not only reimburse for our loss on the first ticket, but cover whatever the credit doesn't for the second ticket. On top of that, they are reimbursing for costs to move our furniture into storage out here while I live in Virginia with the in-laws and my wife stays at either my mom's, or her mom's, house, then paying for the professional movers as originally planned to move our stuff from Utah to Virginia.

Anyways, I'm sorry to vent to you guys, but I'm very frustrated. Everything was set to go, and now this. The hope is that this will get fixed this week and everything will be put back on schedule as originally planned. My wife has even said that she would be willing to swear in at the airport 5 minutes before boarding her plane. That's how much she wants this mess to be fixed too. Half of our stuff is already packed. We're ready to move, and everything we have done is because we received those orders that are no longer valid.

Anyways, I can't wait unitl I get out there. It'll be nice to finally meet all of you. Anybody have a recommendation of where to start looking for work when I get out there? I plan on attending TCC to continue working on my Engineering and Business degrees before moving on to ODU. I currently have a Class B CDL with no restrictions, and a Passenger endorsement. Any help would be appreciated.

I just spoke with Justin yesterday asking if you had said anything or sent the money. He said no.
He also said he's not going to drive your car anymore until you get it built for the 26lbs of boost that it pushes at full throttle.

I had asked about that weeks ago but he said that you were out of town at the time. I still want the items and am inquiring to see whether you will have the time to work on the doors.

He has almost all the parts to strengthen the block anyway..., seems like that's all I've been doing since I deployed, buying parts. But it'll be ready and I'm trying to make sure of that. I'll get the money to him. If I remember correctly, you asked for 250 right?

im not sure if it was a cobra or a "fobra" today... but on my way back from millennium for the updated dyno i saw a yellow cobra on the interstate and i got him to chase me a bit. i rolled the window down and i didnt hear any supercharger wine (03 body style). it deff had all the markings of a cobra, the wheels, the ground effects, the hood... was missing one thing, the grill in the front that has the cobra.

anyway i tried to get him to race me as he punched it, i punched it and pulled really hard on him so i backed off and he took off like a ricer... i cought up and asked him if he wanted to run em and he violently shook his head NO and said no way, your boostn. I scratched my head at that point and was like "if i had a cobra i wouldnt back down from no 4 banger" so i believe it was a "fobra" = fake cobra

 

summary then: wife gets approved by commissioning board as O-1 with time as civilian towards promotion. rank changed to O-2 on commission papers before reaching Sec of Def. Sec of Def signs papers for O-2. Orders are made and commission papers sent back to commissioning board. Commissioning board notices changed rank, cancels orders yesterday. Also sent new papers for commission to Sec of Def end of last week. Sec of Def didn't sign them. we received original orders end of last week. Landlord, and employers were informed of departures. Wife was supposed to go to ODS this saturday, now may be delayed until 1/4/09. We will have no income for her starting tonight, and me in mid-December, as well as homelessness. Also have useless airline ticket for one-way from VA to UT because can't move cars now. We were not informed of the **** up until yesterday.

So, pretty much the worst case scenario possible because THE NAVY FUCKED UP.
