Ideas for Va Beach and Tidewater region Cobalts
i knooow!!!!! this is ridiculous!!!! i wish someone would create an indoor racing center... they do it for motocross and monster trucks. why not create an indoor racing center. and put lights in it... simple??? summer is a bad time to race anyways. the heat is killer on engines. evening time is the best time to do any sort of racing. no real heat just the right temp.
it's a real shame that we don't have any real place that we can fun in close by. I want to do some real racing when I get the chance but I don't want to have to drive all the way to richmond.

Wow, you guys actually went to Aberdeen AFTER all the **** that's happened out there. I went once. Never again. If you feel like seeing nice cruise spots, come running with me one night and you'll see some awesome back roads. WARNING - we might end up over the NC border by 2 hours or so once it's done. I drive until I see the sun so if you can't hang then don't bother
Plan on refueling twice. For now though, I have to catch rides or bring the van...
She'll be running soon enough though!
If you want to know if a place is bad news and you're new to the scene, ask before you get caught in the undercover BS
Or just use your common sense
Here's a link to the shop thread BTW. We just got asked to work on a '72 Impala (I think that's the right year)... banana yellow with a 406 (IIRC) and matching interior and 24's... But it's what he likes and we're doing the work. It runs better now that Dustin's gotten into the motor. I also do work and offer advice as best I can for other models (cobalt, 240sx, and a few others I have experience with), but our specialties are Supras. We have recently acquired a mkiii shell and race ready motor so there's another to add to the list. I can't wait until the 6 of us finish our cars... It's fun running with a group of fast supras

Hmm, I don't know if we can do those. I can ask and see, but so far it's mainly engine/performance/suspension/breaks. Painting interior pieces are one thing, but the externals are a little more than what we have access too. We will be getting a hold of a welder and air compressor soon so that might also include exhaust work and Charge pipe welding. Plus maybe some other one off parts and what not. All depends on how fast I learn to weld, since I need special brackets for my Apexi AVC-R and a couple of other things done.
If we won't be able to help you, I can at least point you in the best direction. STAY AWAY FROM MILLENIUM. Best advice. I trust very few shops and even fewer machine shops, but I know a few I would allow to do certain things. The rest I do myself
BTW: for those who remember me and want to hang out or have questions, PM me for my number or get it from Ken or Steve-o. I'm going to be working on the 2jz this weekend and installing my turbo timer so saturday (if it's nice) people are welcome to join and hang out.

I hear what you're saying. And I am more than informed about what millennium has done to peoples cars, including Adam's. I'll need to get to a good shop so I can get those things done. Any help you can give me would be great.
And I am down for the cruises once I get back.

Sounds good man. I can take a look at what exactly needs to be done just to see if there is anything we can do to make it cheaper once you get it to a more qualified shop. I know good welding will be involved as well as correct placement/fitment for those doors. Also look into possible weight reduction while you're at it, it will make those doors easier to handle. We used to joke about them being a drunk's worst nightmare on an incline lol
The door kit is one from verticaldoors.com so I don't think that it will require welding but I don't know. Also, I am going to need an exhaust, but I am thinking about a dual setup considering I am going to be pushing some decent power really soon. I will get with you on this, but it's only an idea as of now.
Gotcha. I once thought of doing a dual setup, but honestly you wont see any increase in performance over a properly sized single. I run single and I should be pushing close to 500 if that says anything. I wont be running larger than 4" all the way back too. Dual is more for looks
My 3" was just stolen a few weeks ago so I will have to get something to hold me over for the time being. If I find something for a good price then I will get that but I am just leaving my options open.
Ouch, sorry to hear it man. They have DIY exhaust kits for around 300 or so. Full 3" set-ups. Just hit me up when you get in and we'll see what we can find/figure out.
well it appears ill bea round this year!!!! so im down for cruising around and goin to the track. i dunno if i wanna **** with langely this year.. but id like to try the auto cross thing.... that would be nice to actually be on a track. cant wait to order my parts!!! this is what ive been waiting for.. a lil jealous rob got a jump on me though... but i get to drive it also
Hmm, well I can't say there are any tracks worth while. I used to run Langley right behind an SRT-4 at about 20-21.something seconds. I can't remember the exact time, but I was definitely not the slowest car on that track. I have video of me taking down a 2.5L turbo Daytona. The guy was talking smack all day. If Warren is still around, he took the video that night lol
