too be honest i'm perfectly happy with how mine are and i've niteshaded cobalt tails 3 times and they all turned out very glossy and are still very very visible. if you just take your time and about 2 hours they will look perfect.

mine now

my first ss

try and get my friends that i did up on here soon if i can get a pic.

Yea dude, yours def look legit. I took mine off and sanded them down and put 3 coats of nightshade on and let that dry and sanded again and put 3 coats of clear on and they came out ok, i mean they look good but i didnt get that glossy shine they are just flat black. Ill take a pic tomorrow and post it up on here

Direct steps i used were

1: wetsand with 1500 grit
2: clean very good with alcohol or something similar, don't touch afterwords, finger oils could mess up the paint and make sure they are completely dry. let air dry.
3: spray a very light coat of niteshade evenly in a back and forth motion, if you missed a spot don't worry you'll get it later.
4: 2nd coat after about 10-15 minutes, slightly heavier, repeat til desired darkness. I used 3 coats on the red cobalt. 5 coats on the orange.
5: let dry for about 1-2 hours
6: use Meguiars Ultimate Compound to buff then.

If needed you can do another wet sanding after they dry if there are some slight imperfections, but if not then the compound will do the job and do it well. brings a real nice gloss out. clear coat is not your friend, gives it that hazy look.

yea man that hazy look and grainy rough feel on them when you feel them is from the clear coat. if you just straight niteshade it'd turn out like glass.

So you think if i just pulled em off and wetsanded them and then sprayed a coat or 2 of niteshade it'd turn out ok? I mean I hope I dont have to buy a new set of tails...Maybe I'll pull em off and just see what happens

strip them back down to the regular light using laquor thinner. then do my steps and you should be just fine.

Here's my friends mustang i did. it's a little dirty, but they look good. they're a bit glossier when it's clean.
