Adam Checking In!
Adam Checking In!
Hey guys! So, after 10 years, I finally own a Cobalt SS.
Unfortunately, this is what it looks like right now.

It needs a lot of work. I have most of the parts I need to get it running with the exception of the intercooler for the supercharger. It's absolutely ridiculous what GM wants for a stock intercooler. $500 for a tiny piece of ******* aluminum. If anyone can help me with finding one for cheap, please let me know.
On top of that, somehow the roof got messed up and the sunroof no longer closes. Does anyone know if that's something you can even replace? Today it hit me that I might have gotten myself into something that I'm not going to be able to handle because it may be a lost cause.
I'd appreciate any feedback. However, it's nice to be here and to see everyone else's really nice rides. Glad I can finally call myself an SS owner, be mine immobile or not.

hahhaah its all good man go into the classified section you will find some parts there and go into the how-tos everything you need is there for repairs. welcome to cobaltss.net and enjoy the endless reading you can do on the ss.
The sunroof is one of the more common problems, there is usually a plastic runner that gets broken and ends up in the way, keeping it from closing (wasn't the case in my case, but most of the threads on here point to that as the cause). If there is nothing in the classifieds you can probably find a new aftermarket one cheaper than GM wants for a new stocker.
Welcome. Like you said atleast you got an SS its def a good start.
I know you are far away, But kijiji is pretty good for stuff like that. Sometime ebay but its sketchy.
Also if you want a brand new heat exchanger that can handle more power, I think one of our vendors is having a sale on them.

Pretty bad update.
The car doesn't run anymore. I think it's the head gasket because there is coolant in the oil. I just can't afford it anymore with barely making any money any more. It's stuck at my work and I can't even afford a tow let alone parts.
...I have the car for sale on Craigslist. I live in upstate New York. This is one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make but it's for the best. I just need something cheap for point A and B until I can afford a project car.
Sorry everyone. Really let myself down on this one.
Here's the listing.

It's extremely fast. I had it up to 154mph a few weeks ago at the WDS. That means it's 46mph short of being classified as a super car. Faster than most of the other tuners around here.
