The ignition switch being replaced is a recall where the key gets stuck in the ignition and in the on position (this really sucks when it happens and happened around 45k to me).

I didnt notice that until you pointed it out...so the accident in 09 didnt total it, some other unknown thing did.

Owner 1 crashed it, but not bad enough total. Owner 2 totaled it somehow, unknown.

In that case, I won't buy the car until I find out..

yeah if you go and look at it, i would look at the lower frame rails by the wheels and look to see if it has been welded or not there, try to look for any type of damage in the engine bay (look down near the radiator/ crash bar) if there is no major damage then the guy might be telling the truth about it that it was just the intercooler and bumper- but i find that hard to believe that an insurance company would total it out for that.

Also be careful when trading with this guy it stilll has a LIEN AGAINST IT

Thanks for all the help here everyone. I called the owner and left a voice mail saying I'm not comfortable with the trade and don't want to move forward.

I am impressed with this board though, seems like a good bunch on here so I will continue looking for a trade and try to find a cobalt so i can join your ranks. Are regular cobalt owners welcome here? Or is this exclusive to SS owners as suggested by the name?

Also if you know anybody in the Boston area who wants to buy a Jeep, let me know!
