Hello all

Figured I would join in here since I have a 09 SS. I got it so that I could have a fun daily driver and to add to my car collection. I was looking for a stock one but they are hard to find. The one I found has some minor bolt ons which will most likely get replaced with stock parts. So if any of you guys want to swap my aftermarket parts with your OEM parts, just let me know! I am in SoCal. Not looking for money, just stock parts.

On to the car....

120k miles
Injen piping
K&N CAI
Aftermarket heat exchanger
Catless DP
Trifecta tuned
Unknown lowering springs
Custom exhaust

Now the best part, I got it with a rod knocking! That meaning, I got the car cheap. No worries though, I have built somewhere around 300 Ecotecs and have a ton of spare engine parts laying around. Should be a very simple and cheap fix for me.

A little about me. This is now my 3rd Ecotec powered vehicle I own. I also have a 04 Saturn Vue with the 2.2L/F23 combo. Then my 1970 Bug had a destroked 2.4L with the LSJ blower. It was fully built making around 400hp @ 10 psi. Sold that engine and currently taming it down with a 2.4L LEA. Both engines mated to another F23 trans (mid engine). The Bug was my old track car but is now retired to garage queen duty. My new track toy is an 06 Evo making about 500whp on e85. I race in one of the local auto-x series (NMCA west) and take it to big tracks for fun.

Some pictures for you guys....

Thank you all for the welcome!

@Victory Red SS Yes it was a blast with the sc engine! Maybe a bit too much power for it though. Thats why the LEA is going in instead. Should balance the car out nicely. I will miss the blower whine and having over 8000 rpm to deal with though.

Question for someone who knows these cars better then me, which is most of you...

In 09, was there an option for Brembos or did they all come with them? Also, if it was an option, was a LSD included in the package? I dont have the LSD code listed in the trunk but would be cool if it was part of another package.

Brembo 4 piston front brake calipers were standard on the Cobalt SS in 2009. Limited slip (G85) was a $495 option. The other options were power sun roof - $750 & replacing the boost gauge with a multi function gauge - not sure of the price on that one because my car did not come with it.

When the cobalt has limited slip, G85 is always listed on the trunk option tag. You could always hope that someone did a trans swap after the car was built.

Thanks for the info Tom! I'll have to jack it up and see how easy one wheel spins. Not the end of the world if it doesnt have a lsd since it's just going to be a DD but would be nice regardless. I'm in mexico at the moment so it will probably be next weekend before I get a chance to check.

@turbotechracing - Thanks for the welcome. You guys wouldnt happen to carry a k04 turbo rebuild kit would you? Figure it's a good idea to rebuild the turbo while rebuilding the engine. Especially since it spun a bearing and sent metal through everything....
