Hey, y'all. My name is David, and I just drug home a new project - a 2008 Chevy Cobalt SS coupe. It needs some major electrical help and a few things under the hood, but I couldn't resist the price. First thing first, she needs a bath, but I have to get the windows up first! Here she is when we got home. I'll post updates as things progress. Looking forward to the project!
Hey, Slowbalt. I bought it from a lady a few hours away and towed it home on Friday. It belonged to her daughter, but she apparently will be in the state penitentiary for a decade or so... I picked it up with no keys and no title for a couple hundred bucks. It had been sitting in her back yard under a tarp for at least a year, so who knows when it was last washed. I towed it home but since the windows were stuck down I didn't take it through the spray wash as usual. I got the windows up today by jumping 12v to the motors, so now it's about the get the foam cannon.
It varies state to state, but it's typically a pain in the ass. A mechanic's lien is usually the easiest route around here if you know a shop that's willing to help. Or in Mississippi you can title bond it if you have a friend down there to "sell" the car to. But generally, you're just buying a parts car. Either way I'm good. I did at least run a VIN check before I picked it up to make sure it wasn't stolen or totaled/salvage.
