Hey all!

Some great tech information here so thought I'd join. I bought a 2006 SS/SC about 3 years ago, rebuild title, factory stage 2, only 36k miles and have put 30k on it now. Runs great, very reliable car. I'm sure I don't have to tell anyone how fun it is to drive these things. If there's 1 thing I don't like, it's the tranny. Gears are too close together. 5 speeds would be fine if spaced apart more I think, so I bought a 6 speed which I plan to install in about a month. Meanwhile, I have the original 5 speed with LSD. I wonder what I can get for the tranny? If anyone has an interest, contact me. You're welcome to drive it (Allentown, PA area) to verify it works well before I pull it out and put the new F40 trans in. Just a thought anyway...

See you in the forums! Dave.

1st gear is a little stout on the lsj trans. Other than that I really liked the trans ratios in the 5 speed. You can rev 3rd from around 60-100mph and I miss it on my old turbo car. It's better than having to shift 4 times just to get through a 1/4 mile run.

Hey there Nova. I agree, first through 3rd are fine, but why not stretch out 4th and 5th? I'm buzzing down the highway at 3000 RPM when at 80 mph. Looking at other cars I have, they're all hundreds of RPM lower. Just seems like a great way to put revolutions on an engine when it doesn't need to.

Welcome! I would honestly keep the transmission as they are hard to find.

Welcome! You have 5 posts so you should be able to make a classified thread. Most 4cyl car gearing keeps the revs higher on the highway to stay closer to the torque peak. This is especially important for naturally aspirated cars.

Ok, cool. Thanks, I was wondering about that. Would be nice to know how much the tranny is worth. I'm thinking around $1000 with the LSD and only 66 k miles?
